Subject: How to go about resale of Poser 4 w/Pro Pack?

kuroyume0161 ( ) posted Wed, 25 September 2002 at 5:23 PM · edited Wed, 20 November 2024 at 3:16 AM

In my fury to horde funds like a Ferengi on a lobe-high for the eventual purchase of good 3D software, must consider possessions to sell. I have Poser 5 and want to know if you think that P4PP would be something worth selling and how to go about it. Not sure about transfer of registration that may go with it. Thanks, Kuroyume - constantly upgrading!

If you have the upgrade version of P5 you are not legally allowed to sell your P4pp as you need your P4 serial number for any reloads. and even if you bought the full $329 license CL will give you a haard time about it. they will refuse to accept new registrations from anyone but the original owner.

So, in other words, I'm stuck with it whether I ever use it again or not. :( That's gonna make it tough to gather the funds to buy Cinema 4D XL, which has really caught my eye for 3D modelling, rendering, and animation. I can probably get half the amount selling other stuff, but have so much on credit now that I really can't see putting another $800-$1000 on any cards. Interested in a dual 1GHz PIII system? Heh, heh? ;) Kuroyume

I believe the P4 EULA states something like, "Let us (CL) know who you're going to transfer the license to." Best to talk/email directly with them. I think what you're wanting to do is possible.

If you are using the P5 upgrade, then you are still using your P4 copy since that licence is part of the P5 product. The value of the P4 product you already bought was taken into account already because the P5 upgrade costs less than the P5 full version.

Move to New Zealand - then this reselling thing in the EULA is cancelled out by the Fair Trading Act :) However - if you own a upgrade of P5, you can't resell your P4 because as others say, the upgrade is bought on the understanding that you still own and use the serial number from P4 :)
