I put 10,000 hair on cat's face. It's too excessive hair and too long to render. I am not satistifed with it because its showing cat's skin. Any suggestion to fix it? Waldoo

As I do not have P5 I'm not sure if this is doable, but I DO have cats and their fur does not stand out like this, it's much more flat (of course I guess you know that as well) But the point is that IF it is possible, try laying the hair down wo that the overlap. This way the skin won't show (as much) and the appearance will be more lifelike :o) But it's kinda cute though, not THAT ugly after all ;o)

This one with 10,000 strands on head only with texture map. Fixed face hair to lay the hair down.

Deleted texture map and changed color value to white.

Changed number of strands to from 10,000 to 2,000

You know, it's really pretty decent, considering the technology being used. With enough rendering power, this could just work.

10,000 strands for short hair and 5,000 strands for long hair, 15,000 strands in total. P5 allowed me to add second hair (long hair) specific area on face, cheek to forehead to cheek. Waldoo

I wish there is a feature in P5 for strands color to follow texture map to make it look realistic and less strands-stress on hardware. It would be nice if Curious Labs put that in patch because it is must to have. Waldoo

Yes there is ... gradiant bump I believe ... look in the hair color material folder. I was working on a cat too. Used a displacement map. I think a combination of the displacement map and hair might work. I just thought that it would take too much resources to do it all in the hair room. Good job so far. Really. Boni

I've tried to furr up a cat also, has anybody had any trouble deselecting the wiskers for hair besides me.

In the materials room ... click on "Fur" then you are applying only to the fur, not the whiskers. :) Boni
