Subject: Well....Poser 5 activation

Just got P5 about 30 minutes ago, still trying to activate it via the website, or via the automatic registration process. Neither is working. Sighs....

I had the same problem, email was the only way I could register, they got back to me really quickly about 4-5 hours, but it was on a week day, not sure how they'd work this at the weekend.

had no problems myself( still had the old metacreationsnr from p4), but you can use it some days without registration be shure to enter not the number shown in p4 itsself but from the registrationcard.p4 shows not the whole number

Took me all of a minute took longer checking my s/n of my poser 4(that I had stuck in the back of the manual in a rare fit of common sense) Pretty neat system really (if it works for you) PaulC

I haven't been able to get into CL's website all morning. Best to keep trying. On Monday the patch is supposedly being made available for download, and this may well leave CL swamped for days (if that's not already the problem). Otherwise go for the email activation path. Bill

Hmmm, Page is still in my cache, but when I return it's displaying the trusty "This page connot be displayed" sign, but you can use it for 7 days without registering. later jb

a couple of notes I've seen in posts here suggest that disabling any firewall, and sometimes antivirus, made it work.

BrianR ( ) posted Sat, 28 September 2002 at 9:56 AM

I think the server must be down...I've tried about half a dozen times with firewall down & anti virus off but I've still been able to play around...so far it seems pretty stable too (SHOCK!!!) ok yeah it's a bit slower but I was expecting a real struggle on my system (AMD 700, 384 mbram, Elsa Gladiac Ultra 64mb Geforce 2) I'll have to see how it goes as I delve deeper but so far I'm impressed.

If you still cannot register automatically before the P5 patch goes live on Monday, I would go with the email activation option, otherwise you may not get the chance, unless the activation server is seperate from the download server. Bill

Tried to activate this morning, no connection to the server. Tried with firewall disabled as well, but it didn't help. I'll do as williamsheil, if it doesn't work until Monday, I'll do it via e-mail instead. I must say that Poser 5 is working pretty smooth on my machine (2.2 GHz P4, 512 Mb RAM). Tried all sorts of weird things in the hair and material room, but no crash so far (knock on wood...)

April - I e-mailed 'em, but tried the website the next morning... everything activated nicely on the web, and I wound up with two e-mails from two different support techs (LOL!)... So just keep the e-mail stored, as a just-in-case measure. /P

Well at least you've got the opportunity to try! I'm still waiting for mine to arrive, best part of a week for it to get from Ireland to Wales....
