I would vote for making it a freebie despite the fact it's a great job, well detailed even without a texture! :o) I pretty well know what it means to devote endless hours to create something of your own...it's fair to share high quality stuff with the rest of members, I strongly believe in that and I always try my best on my freebies. As for Millie...why on earth would anyone pay 60 bucks for her when the evolution woman, Mimi and Nene are so much better and for FREE! renapd

There is a third option available. You could sell it on BBay.com for something like $10.00. That way you can make a little money on it and still sorta give it away ($10.00 is pretty cheap). I haven't sold anything thru BBay myself and don't know if there are minimum price requirements. But I'd say try to sell it. But as cheaply as possible so everyone can easily afford it. ScottA
It's a tough call. The model as shown appears very nice and I certainly would not object to having it. The problem is that it seems like a very limited use item. As such I wouldn't be willing to pay too much for it, probably not as much as it would actually be worth. If this is indicative of your modeling skill, you should consider creating models that lend themselves to wider application.
This model is smooooth. However, I probably wouldn't pay for it since I basically stick to air-breathers ;) Unless I really wanted to do a undersea scene I wouldn't get it (this from a man whose Poser directory is almost 3G) I've had great results (IMHO) with the freely available stuff, thank you very much, and a solitary sea denizen doesn't do it for me. No offense intended. Now if you bundled a multi-morph horse with harness and oxen and mules and such, that might get my $60 -to- $75 out of my wallet. Sorry if it sounds like more work (evil grin!) but this is me being honest.
This an excelent display of talent and I like the way it seems to have a smooth flowing effect. I agree with ScottA about brokering through BBay, I have had a wonderful experience with dealing with them so far and would Highly Recomend their services. That way you also keep all the rights to your model and noone there will alter your product. Very Nice work Mark Sprout :O)
I am the cheapest SOB here - I make really good money and still drive a ford escort sttionwagon when the lot I park in is filled with BMWs. I plan to retire at 50... Talk to Bill at BBay. I've bought worthwile stuff there and you'd get a pruchace from me! If you have plans for more creatues like this, please continue! It looks like you'd make a much better snake... (HINT!)
One thing that concerns me about brokering with bbay is this figure is based on the raptors head from poser, I don't want any copyright problems with zygote. It was done more or less for my own use but I would like to make a contribution to the community. I only hope it bends as smooth when it's poseable. Ikyoto, what about the snake don't you like? I haven't really looked at it except to see if it's head would make a good starting point for this one. I have also thought about trying something like an alligator after this one.
Talk to Zygote. They have low cost stuff also. If you don't want a small fortune per copy sold they can sell it for less. If it doesn't work out then look at how you can distribute it without stealing the raptors head. I don't have a lot of use for sea stuff either, but it looks cool. But I would expect that there is more market for something that is identifiable as to species than a created critter. So a great white shark or baracuda might be more popular than a generic "nasty fish" even if the fig is very nicely done.
heyas; it is a very fine model! very well done, professional quality. i'd be the first person to support anyone who wants to make 3d modelling a career, (or at least a side career :) ). but to be objective... if you posted this as a freebie, i (and many others) would nab it right away. some people would play with it and make a scene (like... who was that making a morphed aqua-raptor critter?), some would just save it, but it would see a pretty good amount of use. if you sold it.... well, not as many people would flock to your door. people would go: 'well, it IS nice, but what would i use it for??' they would have to justify the cost (whatever it would be), even if it is just a fun toy. so it would see less use. now, i could see this as, say, part of a package deal. say, five sea critters for 15 bucks. on the other hand... davo started making weird BEMs and selling them, and is doing rather well, as i gather. i woulda thought a BEM would be a limited-use/limited-appeal item, but apparently not. on another hand, if i made something based on somebody else's mesh, i wouldnt feel as if that should be something i'd make money from. i'd give it away. (which wouldnt mollify zygote, if i were giving away their raptor's head!) so.... talk to zygote about it, show it to them. maybe they'll make you an offer ;) after that, you can mull it over and decide what to do with it.
Although I do like the figure, and would like to have it, I would not buy it UNLESS - 1) It was either VERY inexpensive or bundled with a few other figures for a reasonable cost, or 2) I had some pressing need for it (this is why I do not own the Zygote Dragon or Victoria/Millie - although they are both great figures, I can not justify the expense!)
