I know - it's not really to do with Bryce, but I thought I'd post this to show how easily the human eye can be fooled by colours and shading. I thought it was pretty impressive - see what you think. Look at the squares labelled A & B. Obviously, square A is quite a bit darker than square B. About twice as dark, maybe, or three times? Actually, it isn't. Square A is EXACTLY the same shade as square B. If you don't believe me, save the image and check for yourself! (Original image by EH Adelson)

That's pretty cool. I made this image using bryce a while ago. WHat do you think?

Ummmm...no it's still two different shades...? Am I looking at this wrong?

Max, kinda like a mobeus or such, kewl. Tuttle, I saved the image and loaded in PS. Clicked on the two squares with the eyedropper. You're right, they are the same shade. This is a good reminder at the power of the mat lab and lighting around the textures.

Here is a site with quite a few illusions. Lots of these cam be used in the art we produce here, especially taking into account all the talent here.

AgentSmith, pull it into a image program and sample both squares. In Photopaint both squares are level 80 in greyscale.

I've see this type of illusion before but I still can't pull it off. It's neat to know though.

Honestly Tuttle I like you but I sure thought you were full of it! But after a closer exam in PSP I must ask that you never mess with my melon again. Vile

A simple method to determine if the squares are the same intensity . . . place a piece of white paper over a printed copy of the image . . .make a hole in the white paper at the location of each square with a pencil . . . and compare the squares. . . . yep, they're the same.

I'll never trust my sight again :)

There are some really awesome articles out there how vision works, the model of reflected/adsorbed frequency is just a childish simplification it turns out.

Pass no temptation lightly by, for one never knows when it may pass again!

Amazing stuff... still have to rub my eyes. J.

So does this mean that when I see a pretty girl I should cut a hole in a piece of paper and look at her again through it?

Like that'll get her phone number.
