Subject: Installer problems with DAZ purchases?

milamber42 ( ) posted Sat, 28 September 2002 at 6:19 PM · edited Mon, 10 February 2025 at 4:55 PM

I've downloaded several purchases, and the installers do not execute. I downloaded the alter from the free section yesterday, and the installer executes. I do not think it is a browser problem, since the download from the free section executes but not a store download. Has anyone had problems with products downloaded from the store lately?

I am a frequent purchaser and have had no problems. Ron

I had that problem with my last purchase. For one of them, I got around it by switching from Mozilla (Netscape based) to IE and right-clicking to save. For the other one (had used up the downloads trying), I e-mailed DAZ and they set up another download for me that worked. Might be something with the store software.

This is good to know. I also was unable to d/l after purchasing at DAZ last night. (This was useing IE as well) I kept getting errors. I sent an email, and probably won't get a response untill after the w/e. But I'm going to try again right now.

Thanks FyreSpirit! The right click w/ IE is what I could not remember. I thought IE was corrupt and the universe was giving me a spanking. :) Looks like it is a Mozilla/Netscape issue. Gwiz, They are usually prompt with these problems.

I've had many problems since the new store, but all the links that DAZ has sent me seem to work. I downloaded the Mike2 & Stephanie RR figures last night without a problem. Today I downloaded an update file and it didn't add EXE to the end of the file, but still worked after I added it manually. I think the new store is getting better, but still has some issues to work out like having to log in first even before you check out New Releases in case you want to buy something. If you log in after adding to your basket, it'll show your basket empty when you Check Out.

Why do you have to login at all, I've bought loads of stuff from them but never opened an account... later jb

I had similar problems (exe does not run) last time. I never tried explorer (too risky to use for anything other than win updates :) They sent me links the next day, which worked fine (I think I bought them on a monday) First time I have ever had a problem of that sort. jb, I think the new store requires a login. eric

I use IE6+. Just downloaded the Mike/Steph low-res figures, and installed no problem.

Have already downloaded with Netscape 6 and now 7 and had no problems at all.

I couldn't download with IE 5 for Mac and switched over to Netscape and that worked fine.

Using IE(6) with a right-click works. Using IE(6) with a left-click does not. I think this is new. You only get part of the file and it doesn't even show the proper number of bytes to download.
