love the matlab and playing a bit, trying to make something looking like water ,a bit bumps,a bit reflection,a bit refraction. all used on the square. Rest nerds backdrop. hope you like it

thats it, took from the basic mats one called "caustics" and connected it to the bumpchannel. ( thats most of the mat,dont worry,it looks a bit confuse Than added one reflectionnode and one refractionnode. You can play with the values to get more reflection or refration. for the surface i took the highressquare from the p5 props

One thing to get refraction working!!! turn off the " cast shadow " for the square!!! Took me one hour to find this!!

very nice!! :) i'd turn refraction off, though. it shouldn't be possible to see through water from this angle.

aleks, load the "Caustic" material from the "Basic Materials" folder, there you can see the math functions. thgiesel used that as the base material.

C makes it easy to shoot yourself in the foot. C++ makes it harder, but when you do, you blow your whole leg off.

i took a shot at water in P4 using a bryce mat on a terrain export. It was nothing like this! Very well done. Now in the future, if Poser adds a primitive room for some basic modeling, like Bryce, we're in like flint.

Fantastic!! Incredible use of the materials room. I've got to try this on my own. Very cool, thanks for sharing. I wonder how hard it would be to animate it realistically? Any takers? (I've got too many animation projects in the fire, but maybe I'll give it a go.) -Tim

WOW - what a lady ;o) Seriously, what an image! CL oughta acquire this as a promo image for the mat lab and the Firefly renderer. It shows a beautiful effect (in a great pic, too) that just can't be done in P4. Thanx for sharing.

How come when I set my reflect and refract colors to white like you have them does my water just render as bright white? And is the water in yours reflecting the background picture?

The caustics material connects to displacement -how do I get it plugged into the bump node?

which patch 1 or 2 beta? I running both and all works fine. Note that it does require something to reflect against the water. otherwise you get only get white. place any thing above the "water" and you'll see its reflection.

beta 2 i have used caustics material changed it the way it should be and get a bumpy square.
