nicely new site Guitta, a little slow on my Mac - and Internet Explorer went into an endless loop (probably) when i tried to go to the webcam (nosy as i am). So i had to dump it. Bad luck! But anyway, i will try it again. Walther

The webcam is not ready yet, I say it on the webcam page. It will be on after october 11. I have let make an analysis of my index page, it seems it loads very fast. Here is the result: Modem 28k : <7 sec Modem 56k : <3 sec Cable - ADSL : <1 sec But I know that Macs are a bit long. If you don't distroy your temporary internet files, the page will load faster next time. :-)Guitta guittalogo.GIF

Hi guitta, nice page... for whatever reason, the english part wouldn't come up... Just an fyi

Great website Guitta !!! Amazing source of wisdom for every Vue user :)
I think that menu is expanding too slow (but thats only my opinion)
Ill test it at home on my poor modem connection (now on 2Mbit its pretty fast :) )

gebe ( ) posted Mon, 30 September 2002 at 9:19 AM

Tradivoro, what do you mean "the english part doesn't come up"? I have only english pages on this site. I have paid very expensive:-( for the menu, it should work great. Please tell me about the "english part" to see if I can change any thing. Thanks Guitta

wabe ( ) posted Mon, 30 September 2002 at 9:48 AM

Hi Guitta, What deadhead said is exactly what i found too. The menu comes up very slow (the first time you enter the page), long time after the rest of the page. Instead of the menu there was only a white (empty) box on the left side of the screen. Could it be, that this is a flash element which needs to load up first? If thats the case maybe you should add a sort of information "loading" etc. Walther

Guitta, your site is really amazinig, love your menu bar too....it loads extremly fast, but out of all your gallery pictures I have to tell you that A L'OREE DU BOIS is my favorite. I have bookmarked your site. Sharen PS: could I add your web page to our site?

gebe ( ) posted Mon, 30 September 2002 at 10:02 AM

Thanks Sharen and great, I would love you link to my page. I had not the time yet to create my links. I will put you in there too, because I only will link to places where users can get free or unexpensive objects, softs etc. To do the link page will take time and I have to do it slowly... I'm happy my page loads fast on your computer. For me it is fast too, much faster then Renderosity:-) :-)Guitta

gebe ( ) posted Mon, 30 September 2002 at 10:03 AM

Walther, there is a sentence that shows up saying "loading images".

gebe ( ) posted Mon, 30 September 2002 at 10:14 AM

OK, thanks Walther, I will try to find out what I can do better.

Sorry Guitta, thats what i am seeing! As you can see, a white space on the left of the page! And it takes some time until the menu pops up. Walther

I think I need a special page with a special HTML tag to put a complementary "waiting" message, but I cannot find out how it has to be. Will ask in another forum:-)

wabe ( ) posted Mon, 30 September 2002 at 10:54 AM

Guitta, aren't enough html specialists in our forum that can help? I think there are a few. Well, to all others. Help if you can. We all does profit from a easy and fast functionating guitta.net page!!!!!!! Too bad that i am not deeper into html! And by the way Guitta. Do not comment this message! :)) Walther

Good Morning Guitta . . . ( California Time ) 8^) What a wonderful improvement over your old site!!! It's very fast loading, a really great layout, & everything loaded without any problems, ( on my Windows 98SE system ). I didn't have the time to view all of your different areas this morning, ( just the images category, they are beautiful ), but I will visit the rest of the areas later today. Viewing your images gives me so much incentive to create with Vue 4!!! I hope you get your "Web Cam" functioning soon, "I enjoy looking at French Girls in the morning" actually ALL girls at any time, HeHeHe. Anyway, I'm so glad you did build your new site. Thanks for the link, ( it's in my favorites ), & you have a good day . . . Mark. ;^)

Very nice site ! The first time I came, it took about 30s to load all the images with the menu(56kb modem). Very modern look with the toolbar, maybe I will go there this evening ;=) Yves

Looks awsome ! Guitta. Im just back in time after a big upgrade:) Last days I only could surf a little on My Hubbys Linux system. Going to try the marvelous waterfall soon. regards Myske

tradivoro ( ) posted Mon, 30 September 2002 at 1:24 PM

Well, I'm at work, so I can't copy and paste what the page looks like.. Your recent image of the girl with the mother in the forest comes up... Looks veyr nice, and it says wait till all images load... I get the french and the german flag on top and nothing else comes up... So I figure I can read french and understand some, so let me go to the french part... There it has all the tutorials and everything fine in French... It also has an english flag, so I say, ok, maybe this will lead me to the english site... It leads me back to the page with the image, but nothing else... On the left side, the bar eventually turns to black, but only get the french and german flags on top... Anyway, hope this helps... :)

Hey Guitta, beautiful site---great job! :)

gebe ( ) posted Mon, 30 September 2002 at 3:11 PM

Thanks Mike:-). So I understand you got my page without problem? The menu image is only 15 kb big, it is only made from 1 image and the sidebar when it loads. I think this is the applet what needs time. Only somepeople cannot get it, I don't know why.

gebe ( ) posted Mon, 30 September 2002 at 3:19 PM

Thanks Mark, happy to see you back:-)

gebe ( ) posted Mon, 30 September 2002 at 4:31 PM

I have written to the support of the menu creator to know if I did something wrong in my "menu". Here is the answer Greetings, The visitors that are having problems, what browsers are they using? Is there a specific problem with one browser or one kind of computer? I am using ie6 and the page works fine from here. Please let us know if we can be of further assistance. Best Regards, Roger Crocker The OpenCube Support Team support@opencube.com 207-262-1132 I'm sure now the slow loading times depends on computers, browsers, connecions and maybe systems. :-)Guitta

tradivoro ( ) posted Mon, 30 September 2002 at 5:33 PM

Well, I think what's happening Guitta, and this is just an idea, is that if you work at a place that has a firewall, it's going to work well... I went home and the page uploaded just fine in Netscape and Internet Explorer, and I'm using the old versions of this... At work, it would load the applets... Very nice page by the way... :)

tradivoro ( ) posted Mon, 30 September 2002 at 5:34 PM

the above should read "if you work at a place that has a firewall, it's not going to work well".. :)

gebe ( ) posted Mon, 30 September 2002 at 5:36 PM

I hava a firewall too and it is enabled, of course. No problem. Here again, maybe it depends how the firewall is configurated?

wabe ( ) posted Tue, 01 October 2002 at 12:46 AM

Hi Guitta, have you changed anything last night? This morning (7.30 a.m. german time) your site builds up a lot faster AND the "loading image" message comes up. So probably all the phenomens have to do with traffic. Loading and accessing the applet, that could take time when there is a lot happening in the Net. One question to let me understand. What is the benefit of using an applet for navigation? But here the details of my system. Mac OS X 10.1.5, Internet Explorer 5.2.2 (the newest version on the Mac), DSL connection. Hope that helps, Walther

Hi Walther, I have not changed any thing:-). "What is the benefit of using an applet for navigation?" Easy add of new pages in keeping the same menu, as the whole loading menu is only made from 2 images, the menu and the slide bar=less then 15 kb. But first of all, for me, the pleasure to have this menu I was lurking for a year or so on other webpages. As I'm not able to write class files (this menu has 10 class files to work with all known browsers on the web), I had to buy it. It is usable for free on a local network only. I have tried it with Netscape 4.7 and 6, it works great also. Traffic? Hm, I don't know, I need all day over 1-3 minutes to go to a Renderosity page, if ever I don't get a SQL error (often). But I never had a problem to get my own page. I'm glad it works now:-) Guitta guittalogo.GIF
