Wow, this looks like a nice service, $60 for all you need. I just have a couple of questions though. First - is this stuff time based - once I get it, if It doesn't fit the project i'm working on at the moment, will it not function after a year? and second, are most of the clothes for the P4 people or for the Daz people? Any other input is appreciated as well, thanks

Ms_Outlaw ( ) posted Tue, 01 October 2002 at 4:20 PM

Nothing 'times out' once you have it, you got it. They have a really nice mix of both. They are focusing more on Vic and Michael now and have a lot for them. My subscription is almost up and really want to renew. In my year they have had updates sometimes twice a month. All have been more than worth the price of subscribing. No, don't work for them ~G~

VirtualSite ( ) posted Tue, 01 October 2002 at 4:20 PM

The files aren't time-based. Once you download them, they're yours for as long as you need them. And once you're in, there are literally gigs of stuff available: clothing, props, textures, scene files, you name it. The clothing is pretty well 50-50 split for the Mil figures and the P4s. PW is about the only place on the planet making high-quality stuff for the P4 guy, incidently. Check their freebie this week and see for yourself. The quality is always top notch, and the texturing work is done with a real eye to detail. I think you'll find them a good resource.

Buy a new hard disk. I have 900 MB of zipped files from Poserworld and maybe 1 GB unzipped PW stuff in my Runtime folder. ;)

For the price of that one subscription you will fill your entire drive with a huge variety of stuff. Not only do they have stuff for all major figures like the others have said above, but they have themed clothing sets i.e. Egypt, Western, Greek, etc. Also, besides the clothes there are textures, morphs, texture paks for other models, props, scenes, etc. You'll have a busy year ahead of you downloading!

lalverson ( ) posted Tue, 01 October 2002 at 4:36 PM

I have to agree here. since PoserWorld started it has always been a top notch spot for poser stuff. Now once they did the subscription route I was very wary of joining. However, Since joining I can say quite honestly that it has been money well spent. They cover the range from Possette to DAZ, and rena's textures are stylist and very detailed. Steve's models are detailed complete and well thought out, and surprizingly easy on poser. The files once you have them are yours (with the appropriate copyrights and terms) so as long as you keep the zip saved someplace.

dampeoples ( ) posted Tue, 01 October 2002 at 5:06 PM

Thanks for the responses! I've been working with the Daz stuff and a few others, but that was a bit hard on the wallet, see you guys there ;)

dampeoples ( ) posted Tue, 01 October 2002 at 5:11 PM

Oh, one more question. Do they have mac stuff or will I need to convert it all? Thanks.

lalverson ( ) posted Tue, 01 October 2002 at 5:23 PM

I'm prety sure you'll have to convert em

Crescent ( ) posted Tue, 01 October 2002 at 6:31 PM

As I said in another post, I was burned by one subscription site, but PoserWorld (and PoserStyle) have both been excellent values that have paid for themselves many times over. Just a happy consumer, no payment for recommendations, though I wouldn't turn it down, either ;-)

Khai-J-Bach ( ) posted Tue, 01 October 2002 at 6:42 PM

here's a question... I need a lot of Victorian outfits... do they have that kinda stuff? Kai

Dave-So ( ) posted Tue, 01 October 2002 at 7:03 PM

I just renewed my sub...its the FIRST pay site I've ever renewed....and one of few that have actually stayed around for more than 3 months :) this is their 2nd year as a sub site..and have been around for quite awhile prior to that. if you guys go here: http://www.poserworld.com/subspreview.asp you can see the stuff that's out there...plus there are 3 CDs on line as well...the site get updated often... their ad states over 4gigs of content

geoegress ( ) posted Tue, 01 October 2002 at 7:17 PM

be advised though that you can only DL one thing at a time- which is a royal pain in the ass for those of us a 56k. I use a dl manager to have the auto resume feature. At PW they don't allow that. My subscription is about to expire and I may NOT re-subscribe because of there attitude about downloading. It's very unprofessional- there band width cost are not MY problem. but my download compleations are mine- Oh- and there's not as much there as you may think- a lot of stuff- but free stuff here has way more. Not all is rose's in the garden. Let the nay sayers and "no, your wrong" bashin start

dialyn ( ) posted Tue, 01 October 2002 at 7:41 PM

Some people consider downloading massively unprofessional. I've been very happy with my subscription, and appreciate why they've had to protect themselves against mass downloads. And there is lots of stuff...very high quality. The freebies here are great, and I appreciate each and every one of them, but I will definitely renew at Poserworld as another valuable resource.

ronmolina ( ) posted Tue, 01 October 2002 at 7:46 PM

I highly recommend it. You get alot for your money. Ron

Bobasaur ( ) posted Tue, 01 October 2002 at 7:49 PM

One question based on the post of geoegress (Post 13): Is all the Poserworld stuff available for commercial use? I know Renderosity has a lot of Free items but many of them are noncommercial only. I'd like to be able to sell my animations someday so this is important to me.

This is from their user agreement: You may use any downloadable content without any royalties due provided you do not download our content and sell it for profit (ex: create a CD ROM of our content and resell it), anything you download and distribute must be used in a project, scene, etc. You may not create derivative works of our content, you must modify it for your own use (in a scene, etc.).

melanie ( ) posted Tue, 01 October 2002 at 8:45 PM

PoserWorld is worth every penny. The items are well made. The reason they don't allow mass downloads is because it overtaxes their bandwidth, which is understandable. I've seen several other sites that don't allow mass download. There's a great selection of items. You'll probably find just about anything you need. Melanie

Lyrra ( ) posted Tue, 01 October 2002 at 9:04 PM

Well I've been extremely happy with everything I've gotten from PoserWorld. A great variety, and Steve and Rena are always willing to help if there are problems. There is a request board on the site, so you can (if you're lucky) ask for specific things to be made. They're on an Ancient Greek kick right now. Just finished about 30 wonderful pieces for Mike. I'm hoping they make some period stuff for the milkids :) As well as all the amazing stuff they've mad ein the last year, you also have acess to everything on the old site and the PW CD content. Truly an amazing deal :) As for downloading - They approve the use of Getright! as a DL resumer. Says so on the entry page :) They have some victorian and period stuff, both male and female. If you're looking for victorian stuff specifically, try PhilC's site (pay) and SergeMarck's site 'Poserfashion' (free) Lyrra

sturkwurk ( ) posted Tue, 01 October 2002 at 9:12 PM

The Scenes and props alone are worth the price. Sure downloading can take a while, and on "release" days your lucky to even log in, but if your patient for just a day or two, it's fantastic. Other Pay sites to consider. www.poserstyle.com Incredible files! and Travelers amazing Props club just $25 a year (a different new download every week) and it's always a surprise! www.morphworld30.com/club.html

I came, I rendered, I'm still broke.

dialyn ( ) posted Tue, 01 October 2002 at 9:14 PM

SergeMarck's site has closed. He will be making a CD available at CloudDesign and will be creating clothes at some point (with the promise of more for men and children) but right now it's not available (unless he worked very fast from this morning).

dcasey0284 ( ) posted Tue, 01 October 2002 at 9:26 PM

Poserworld is a great deal. I took a chance last year and signed up for a lifetime membership. It was something like $150. What I've downloaded since then must be worth hundreds, if not thousands of dollars. BTW, I second the vote for Travelers Props club, as well. It's also an excellent deal.

Lyrra ( ) posted Tue, 01 October 2002 at 9:27 PM

dialyn, Thanks for the info! I didn't know the site had closed. What a shame!

Dale B ( ) posted Tue, 01 October 2002 at 9:35 PM

Probably the same thing that nailed so many other once-free sites; bandwidth costs. But at least he isn't quitting!

dialyn ( ) posted Tue, 01 October 2002 at 9:43 PM

The expense was certainly a factor. I think SergeMarck is going to be focusing on Poser 5 stuff...it seems so from what he posted on his website. If you like his clothing line, you should get on his mailing list. He said he wasn't going to post on forums anymore.

Bobasaur ( ) posted Tue, 01 October 2002 at 9:58 PM

pdxjims ( ) posted Wed, 02 October 2002 at 12:13 AM

There is no better deal than PoserWorld. Steve and Rena do superb work in clothing, props, and scenes. The sheer volume of it all is amazing. I give PW subscriptions every once in a while to someone who doesn't have one, who's helped me out with props, textures, and stuff. If you're doing your Christmas shopping and someone doesn't have a wish list, give them a subscription to PW. If someone is watching their pennies (like we all are), they should spend the money at PoserWorld before anywhere else.

Ironbear ( ) posted Wed, 02 October 2002 at 4:33 AM

Ditto on what everyone else stated. Poserworld is great, and worth the membership.

I bought all the 4 CDs for only 50,00$ (86,00$ Canadian) and it took only a week to receive it from Georgia to Quebec in Canada. The CD number 4,1 is just fantastic and I'll have hundreds of hours to work (play) with all the characters, textures, props, etc...

artnik ( ) posted Wed, 02 October 2002 at 10:40 PM

Also they do allow download managers, like Get Right, just as long as you only download one thing at a time, in a queue, as they put it. They just don't allow mass D/L's, and who can blame them? I am planning to renew shortly. I only have a 56K modem, too. But I don't mind not being a bandwidth hog. It's a great site. They went subscription because of the mass D/L hogs, in the first place!

Attached Link: http://www.propsguild.com

That sounds alot like viruses props guild. Had to plug it. We have many props, and clothing. Im working now on p5 content. check it out at the link. There is some free non-subscripion stuff there too.
