Subject: Poser 5 Face Room

Has anybody discovered a Face Room texture generated for the body? I don't see any mention of it in the reference manual... (wishful thinking) Thanks

Not that I know of ... Anthony? Also, Anthony: We were promised a fix or workaround for the low resolution of the face room maps soon. I haven't seen it yet, has one been posted? Or is this being addressed in the patch that's coming out soon? Thanks, Tim

You can always open up the face room texture, which is saved in a folder inside the textures folder, in your photo app and manip it anyway you like.

Sorry, but that won't help at all.

Sorry, but you're wrong. I've done it.

Ummmm ... NO you can not. You can't create what is not there in the first place. The face room only saves out 512x512 res images. You can't make something higher resolution without resampling (or resizing ... yuck!) and thus loosing image quality. You can ALWAYS, of course, down-sample ... which has been my point on this subject all along. Why CL would make them only 512x512 and not higher? Or better yet ... user selectable. It is baffling. -Tim

The face room textures are 512X512 at 150 ppi. Typical Poser head texture maps are 1000X1000 at 72 ppi. Quantity does not equal quality. The textures the face room generates do need post work, just like most renders in Poser, and it CAN be done.

NO, either you are a lying to cover your ass, or you are just incredibly ill-informed. They are 72ppi as verified with three different graphics software packages.

"Typical Poser head texture maps are 1000X1000 at 72 ppi."

1000x1000 is low res for anyone serious about doing close-ups in animation, let alone someone who wants to generate prints. Glad you took a poll of what everyone considers typical. Well, if your version of typical is that, and your happy with, great for you ... ignorance is bliss. You probably hook up your DVD player through a coaxial connection and are happy with it too.

ANYTHING can "be done" if you throw enough work-arounds at it. Hell, you can SIMULATE volumetric light in Poser if you work hard enough at it. The point is, the face room is not doing what is promised, and more importantly 512x512 res is simply unacceptable and can not be "fixed" with post work. Which is what my post was originally about.
