Subject: Possible P5 Bug Report.. want to see if others have the same problem

Kiera ( ) posted Tue, 01 October 2002 at 1:57 PM · edited Fri, 22 November 2024 at 3:50 PM

System: Windows XP Home SP 1, 256 MB DDRAM, GeForce 2 MX 400, 1.8 GHz P4 Problem: If I copy the contents of the document window using Edit | Copy Picture and paste it into Photoshop 7, the picture pastes upside down. I had a friend check to see if it happened on his system and it does not. Anyone else wanna try it out to see if the same thing happens?

XP Home not SR1, 1Gb Ram not sure which, GeForce 2 MX 400, 2.0Ghz P4, stays up the right way for me. looks like it's another of those that only happens to the lucky few ;) oh yeah I'm using Photoshop 7 too.

Interesting! I had a background image render upside-down in firefly..and that was after I had flipped the image vertically in PS...thought it was a fluke. Yep interesting....

Kiera ( ) posted Tue, 01 October 2002 at 2:22 PM

I haven't had anything render upside down, but I admit I don't use background pictures often.

I just tried it twice. The first time I hadn't rendered the pic and it pasted into Pshop 7 normally. I then rendered the same pic and copied it. When I pasted it into Pshop it was upside-down. Odd.

Bug reporting in action! Thank you. This thread is being forwarded off to engineering.

Interesting. This also happens on my system with Paint Shop Pro 7 and Win98. It only seems to occur with FireFly renders. Preview mode and P4-engine renders are unaffected. Could it have something to do with FireFly rendering top-down, rather than bottom-up?

I have PSP7 and PS7...it happens in both of them for me... XP Home

Not sure that this is the best place to report bugs, but I've noticed that Kupa reads and replies to these things! (Btw, Kupa, I think that it's really great of you to do so. It's really nice to know that the CL president cares enough about its users to actually get this involved in their community. Kudos.) Anyway, the bug- when I am morphing a character with the dials and hit ctrl-z to undo, it not only undoes the morph but undoes the current camera setting. I normally use undo after turning every dial, so it gets quite irritating as my camera position switches back and forth.

gryffnn ( ) posted Tue, 01 October 2002 at 9:08 PM

Ditto here (Win98) on Morganah's dial undo resetting to the previous camera setting, even after a couple intermediate dial changes. I also will be grateful to have the dial-only undo back; it's the little things dears...

Oh, Morganah, you can alt-click on the dial to reset it to its default value - Elisa

Also, I'd check kupa's post on the 10/3 updater... I think the undo for expressions is one of the intems to be fixed.

morganah, thanks for the note.

I haven't had this, but I do notice that when I view files in P3D0 the pst files are inside out (horizontal 180 flip) compared to the jpg's etc. Seems like there are some intersting issues with 2d stuff and I wonder if its not a PS problem?

morganah ( ) posted Wed, 02 October 2002 at 11:33 AM

Elisa, Thanks for the alt-click tip.

There is an horizontal flip problem in P3dO with .psd (photoshop files), but it is a P3dO bug nothing to see with XP or any graphic card. That bug as nothing to see with a vertical flip. This is a more than one year old bug which I didn't give a high priority, should I ? Speaking about vertical flip you should be aware that Windows bitmaps are stored upside down. The first row in the picture is the last in the file. So when you read a Windows bitmap you have to flip it vertically in order to display it (in order to display any picture on a PC that picture must first be converted into bitmap). If you don't do this the picture is inverted. Some "clever" display driver or software with an automatic flip-the-bitmap option could trigger that strange behavior. Look for updates for your graphic card drivers and also look at the PSP7 options but first try with another picture editor.

Sorry, I didn't read the thread carefully. It can also be a P5 bug.
