I posted this as my competition entry, but apparently it didn't go through. Never mind...... I'd have preferred to have caught them about a half second later so they don't look like they're gonna crash, but hey - watching 3 planes come together to start with! Taken with my old Zenit and a 300mm lens, hand held, on a shops-own brand 99p 400 asa film. Awful scanner. (",)

Like this Mike, I think the closeness adds to the impact of the shot. As you say shame about the film grain doesnt help the sharpness of the image. :O)

Great shot. Can think of several half-witty captions.

Ooo kewl. I like it. I even like the grain. Gives it a cinematic feel. Like in old war movies. ;-) (*

Exactly Jovan, old war movies! That what I was thinking about too. And btw, I dig the grain too. :o) .n

To me it looks like a documentary, using handheld 8mm-cine camera, you just know they are going to crash into each other A good dramatic shot

Eggiwegs! I would like... to smash them!

Thanks guys..... (un)fortunately the grain isn't nearly as evident in the picture, it's the scanner to blame - as shown by that nasty vertical dark patch on the left of centre. The film was a cheapo shops-own brand one for 99p, this one at 400asa. I was still getting used to the 300mm lens, so I'm sure I had it fully open on aperture. Cheapo processing at 2.99 too, but I always get good results from them so why pay more?!? lol It must be something about my timing, coz I took another picture of 2 planes doing a similar move, and once again got them crossing each other perfectly.... imo it would look much better if I'd got them a fraction after they'd crossed.... however, practice, practice, practice.....
