Hello there.. I'm creating a quite typical beach scene. The rest of the scene looks fine but there is one problem. The sand. The default sand material added in Vue 4 is not really what I need. What I would like to have is pure white, soft non rippeled sand. You know.. the way it looks in southern Bahamas or something. Now.. I've tried to mix materials, create completely new materials you name it, but I still cant get it to look reallistic. It becomes to flat, it doesn't look like billions of small sand stones, it looks like a bed sheet!! Like plastic. I can't get the little sparkling effect sand usually has. If anyone has got a solution to this problem, please let me know! I'm desperate ;) Thanks Olmen

You may need to adjust the effects, you know the Ambience, difuse, you can do it in both of the materials if you used mixed materials, also if it is just one material, adding the sparkles could be small lights, of a .jpg material applied to the terrain for sand. Hope this gives you more options, if you haven't tried this yet....you could always go to Varian's site, he has some material you could mix and match, or decrease the size of your material used...Sharen

Hi,here`s my suggestion:make a foto of a smaller sandy area (max.a square metre or even smaller);the lighting has to be more flat avoiding dark or light zones at the edge of your focused area (the point is to get a seamless tile afterwards).Scan the photo or the negativ and do some postwork on it if nesessary.Then you can use the "real" sand texture instead.Maybe you have to do some experiments with the resolution of your sample,but in your case I think the result will be more satisfying.regards Fredi :-)
