Good luck :) With several hundred (thousand?) users slamming the servers at once. This should be fun. Tom

Pretty big patch....I'm downloading as I type :)

Whoo! Time for me to jump in!

BAM ( ) posted Thu, 03 October 2002 at 4:41 PM

Holy Cow!!! 47.15 MB!?!?!?! I'm glad I have a T1 connection and a zip drive. Still, it's telling me at least 45 min. Thanks for getting this done.

depakotez ( ) posted Thu, 03 October 2002 at 4:41 PM

I had hit refresh, saw the announcment and jumped on. And shortly after the download started creeping.. Does that mean something? ;) Tom

Kagato98 ( ) posted Thu, 03 October 2002 at 4:42 PM

Ouch....2kb per second. Good thing I have homework to do :)

hogwarden ( ) posted Thu, 03 October 2002 at 4:46 PM

Phew... 47.15MB is tooo much to download. That'll cost 20 in phone bills!!! Is it possible to get this on a CD? I am willing to pay $10 for the CD and postage to the UK. If it's free-distable could someone burn and post it for me?!?!? Ack! Howard:)

Kagato98 ( ) posted Thu, 03 October 2002 at 4:48 PM

The servers are no doubt going to be busy for days since you've released the patch. Is it legal for one of the faster (T1 possibly?) users that get the patch first to host it on a mirror? And if so, is there anyone willing to do this?

Dave-So ( ) posted Thu, 03 October 2002 at 4:49 PM

:) well, its been saying 12 minutes left for the last 20 minutes :) only 20meg to go....

Title says it all really ... looking forward to it, thanks Kupa! You hit on (according to the bug fix list) a huge majority of the items I was hoping would be fixed. With a majority of thsoe not being fixed I realize are things, as disappointing as it is, will never see the light of day in this release of Poser anyway. And some I was not expecting too I must say.

praxis22 ( ) posted Thu, 03 October 2002 at 5:08 PM

Hmmm, I've got broadband and it's telling me it's going to take 4hours 22mins :) Oh good, getting faster, now only 90mins :) If you're on a dailup in Germany, and you don't mind the wait, I'm willing to burn it and mail it (something tells me I'm going to regret that :) praxis22@hotmail.com later jb

timoteo1 ( ) posted Thu, 03 October 2002 at 5:10 PM

I take it back ... 5K/sec and dropping here. :( (Normal is 150K/s, with a max of about 420K/s). Here's to hoping it doesn't stall. I beleive a server upgrade is in order, especially in light of the notorious release and the size of this patch. Or, will you offer a CD with the updates (or an updated verion of the program in its entirety) to be sent for free to those of us who bought it on day 1 (or 2, or 3, etc.)? This would be a nice thing to have anyway, including the missing content, and also a nice gesture on your part towards the Poser loyal. -Tim

Yipes, I have a blazing fast 26400 bps dial up connection. Looks like this is going to be a challenge.

BrianR ( ) posted Thu, 03 October 2002 at 5:46 PM

Cable connection here & only 2KB a sec...hmmm..maybe I'll try again tomorrow...g'night all :O)

PabloS ( ) posted Thu, 03 October 2002 at 5:51 PM

For those that can't get it and are asking about a CD, allow me to refer you to post #1, "If you can't download the updater, please send service@curiouslabs.com an email request, and we will forward a copy of the updater to you."

timoteo1 ( ) posted Thu, 03 October 2002 at 6:03 PM

Half way there and it stopped and died!! ARRHGGGGGGG!! Anyone else complete a download yet? If I'm going to have to wait for a CD, can it be the revised program with content? When will you be pressing new CD's? -Tim

3DMark ( ) posted Thu, 03 October 2002 at 6:32 PM

Where did it go?

auralia ( ) posted Thu, 03 October 2002 at 6:44 PM

The patch appears to be temporarily unavailable because some files were missing. Check out this thread for more details: http://www.renderosity.com/messages.ez?ForumID=12356&Form.ShowMessage=895023&Reply=895113#16 Auralia

I just spent over an hour dl ing it and the damnn thing won't even run! Ireally getting pissed...

Legume ( ) posted Thu, 03 October 2002 at 9:01 PM

Screw it. I'll download it next week. It's not like waiting on a kidney transplant, it's just a software patch. Hardly worth hassling over.

A status update for you: We have put up the Prefs File updater for those of you who have already downloaded the patch and were having display problems at lower resolutions. You can get it at the link above. The full SR-1 patches will be back up very shortly. -Rylan

Just an update to let you know that the SR-1 patch is back online.

dalliance ( ) posted Fri, 04 October 2002 at 12:34 AM

No it's not!

krazik ( ) posted Fri, 04 October 2002 at 12:47 AM

Yes it is.. ;) Sorry, my bad, I didn't clear the server cache.

timoteo1 ( ) posted Fri, 04 October 2002 at 1:30 AM

ScottA: Thanks, I really NEEDED that ... LMBO. -Tim

Little_Dragon ( ) posted Fri, 04 October 2002 at 1:38 AM

ScottA, I've been watching Godzuki for the past three minutes (getting dizzy), and I have a question: Shouldn't he be wearing a Shriners hat?

praxis22 ( ) posted Fri, 04 October 2002 at 1:59 AM

So... If I've allready got it, I have to download it again, right? later jb

krazik ( ) posted Fri, 04 October 2002 at 2:01 AM

No if you downloaded it earlier you just need the prefs update. (~560k)

Little_Dragon ( ) posted Fri, 04 October 2002 at 2:14 AM

What if I'm downloading it right now? Will I need the prefs update, or is it incorporated into this version of the patch?

krazik ( ) posted Fri, 04 October 2002 at 2:45 AM

If you are D/Ling now, you do -not- need the prefs update, it;s inlcuded.

Little_Dragon ( ) posted Fri, 04 October 2002 at 3:02 AM

Thanks for the clarification. And the patch, of course. :)

hauksdottir ( ) posted Fri, 04 October 2002 at 3:13 AM

Rylan, It's after 1 a.m. If you are going to brood over the server all night long, I hope that you at least have a CD player and something to eat besides sugar. Carolly

-Waldo- ( ) posted Fri, 04 October 2002 at 8:03 AM

I got error message after I tried to load the patch, it said "It is not a valid win32 application" Waldoo

What happens If the patch size becomes greater than or equal to the program size?
