Same with me - please take a look a little further down...

I'm in a state of disbelief at how poorly CL has handled this. Do they need new programmers or what? I mean, you release a bug laden product and then follow that up with a patch that makes it totaly unusable on 8 out of 10 machines. WTF? I'm literally scare to install the app fix at this point in time. That's ludicrous. If the patch is F.B.A.R., it shouldn't be posted on their site.

Dont belive its unusable on 8 of 10 maschines. mine is running without any problems before and after the patch.

I'm with Punkti - what kinda machine are you using, Thos.? I haven't installed mine yet, but if yours is Win2k, then I just may do so. /P

Im running a Athlon 2000XP with 768mb( got 256 mb additional today) nvidia graphiccard, winxp home(servicepack1 not installed). Dont know why everything here is running without problems (only thing: 1 have my swapfile set to a fixed size)

Puntomaus ( ) posted Fri, 04 October 2002 at 1:09 PM

Ah, the swapfile - I should've thought about it myself...

Please don't laugh, but what is a swapfile and where do I find it (was that an xtreme stupid question?) and what is it doing?

I'm on an intel p4 with win2k no problems here. Nvidia graphic card as well

Wombat ( ) posted Fri, 04 October 2002 at 1:24 PM

For me it works fine. I had no crashes with the cd version and yet it is working again without them. XP, 512 MB DDR, Athlon XP1800+ on Epoxboard, good cpu cooler, Nvidia GF2-MX400 with actual drivers. I had trouble downloading too and then I tried again with getright and get both parts without problems 20k speed each (ADSL).

Zed1 ( ) posted Fri, 04 October 2002 at 1:30 PM

The problem is fixed for me so far. Curious Labs support mailed me an older version of Tpkd.vxd, copied it to my system directory, rebootet - bingo: The "bluescreen of death" is gone. Thank you Curious Labs!

That would put you on 98 or Me, right? This appears to be quite common, looks like the new version of Interlok, (the antipiracy app) is the problem. Something P5 is doing is tripping the restart feature of Interlok, or perhaps the new version has bugs of its own. Somehow I doubt we're going to get a straight answer, but just out of interest which version of the vxd have you got now? (right click on it) later jb

Ahh yes, our ancient enemy . . . the protection scheme . . .

Puntomaus ( ) posted Fri, 04 October 2002 at 3:29 PM

I had to register P5 first - after that the patches work fine and no more error messages.
