Why in the world did CL make the Parameter Dials into a floating palette?? Is this really progress? Here is the latest issue- somehow the palette is appearing as a separate window in the toolbar! Is this a bug or lazy coding (to say, "Do not show this window/ form in toolbar.")? And, some of the keyboard shortcuts STILL do not work! Some were fixed in SR1, but there are still a lot of shortcuts that don't work! (See below.) Next time, CL needs to test ALL keyboard shortcuts! (Assuming, that is, we all put up with this **** and CL is around for Poser 6.) I know what you're thinking- no one's perfect, right? They can't catch everything, right? These will be fixed in SR2, right? Except... this wasn't even in an issue in Poser 4 (or Pro Pack), when the parameter dials were part of the background!

Here are the keyboard shortcuts that do NOT work (in Poser 5, SR1r1) when the "focus" is on the Parameter Dials Palette and a figure is selected. (In Poser 5, no patch, NONE of the keyboard shortcuts work.) ----------------------------------- Ctrl-G show/ hide ground plane Ctrl+H hide selected figure Ctrl+I Properties (which should switch to the next tab on the palette) Ctrl+M switch to main camera Ctrl+; switch to left camera Ctrl+' switch to right camera Ctrl+= switch to face camera Ctrl+, switch to posing camera Ctrl+] switch to right=hand camera Ctrl+[ switch to left-hand camera Ctrl+/ switch to dolly camera Ctrl+1 to Ctrl+9 change document display (none work) Ctrl+0 Hide all tools Ctrl+ Show all tools Ctrl+- show/ hide tool titles Alt+Ctrl+1 to Alt+Ctrl+9 change figure display (none work) And don't even think about hitting Alt to access the menus (as in Alt+F for the the File menu or Alt+G C for Figure > Conform To)- since Poser doesn't have "focus", it doesn't work.

I've sent this thread to QA.

Doesnt poser allow you to configure your own shorts cuts like the menu setups?

wgreenlee1- Poser allow the customizing of anything related to the user interface? You must be thinking of Lightwave or 3D Studio Max or some other "professional" 3-D graphics program. And what is this "shortcut" thing that you speak of? Oh, wait, I think you change the colors in Poser by editting the XML preferences file (just do it correctly or you'll screw up Poser, have to re-install, and hope your "challenge code" still works). In fact, I think there was a post about how to edit the XML file... the Ctrl keys don't work, the Face Room causes crashing, people can't register, images take forever to render, but, by golly, look how easy it is to change the color of the interface! -------------------- Nosfiratu- Is there any way I can get some money for being a public "beta-tester" for the time I spent to test every Ctrl-keystroke to see if it worked? It seems like these should have been caught by CL's testers long before Poser 5 shipped.

I wouldnt think that customising shortcut keys would be that expensive to incorp into the main program....although I could be wrong. Truspace has it now and I dont think its really expensive. I could be wrong again.

Rather than applying patches piecemeal to fix the keyboard shortcut problem, the P5 coders really ought to tackle the problem at its root and figure out the proper way to make the parameter window a true child of the main UI window. Having the main window lose focus when you click on the parameter window is dumb, dumb, dumb; the fact that this happens, coupled with the way that buttons appear in the taskbar whenever you click on a dial setting to edit it, suggests an unfortunate gap in someone's Win32 GUI programming expertise.
