I just visited Dendras' site and was very surprised to see a notice saying that all of his tutorials, downloads, etc have been permanently removed, and that the entire site is shutting down in mid-October. Dendras is one of the "old-timers" who has been around since the beginning... does anyone know what's up? I would email him directly, but there's another notice on the website saying that after September 13 he will not respond to any emails that aren't product-support-related.

As you say, he's one of the old timers and has been around Poser for a long time. Perhaps he's just tired of it all and doesn't feel the inspiration to stick around. Another aspect could well be that almost his entire inventory has been pirated and some items have been appearing in freestuff by other people claiming it's theirs. Who knows? If Dendras feels inclined to share why he will, otherwise it's all pure speculation. Your best bet is to email him and ask. It's not yet reached the date for mail cut-off so he may well answer you. But be careful about telling everyone else why, he may wish that to remain private.

I suspect it came out of a recent flamewar... one that spilled over into the OT forum here out of Thralldom (I think - not 100% sure, just that I know Dendras was mentioned a lot.) And yeah... privacy (or rather, a violation thereof) was mentioned a lot too. That's all I know on the deal, but Dendras' quitting explains a lot to me. /P

There is an extensive thread at Thralldom on the reasons for Dendras quitting.

Dendras has been a fundamental part of the scene for me, loosing Dendras is like loosing North of the compas.

yep it's a shame he's leaving the scene, but I wish him well in whatever he decides to do.

Thank you for the info, everyone. Best of luck to Dendras.
