Hey, you're going to have that kind of a problem all year long; Turkeys and leaves for thanksgiving, Santa for Christmas, Fireworks on the 4th., Tiz the season. Halloween is personally my favorite holiday. There are also many things you can do with the theme. Ancient Halloween, The Samhain of the Druids, The time of year when the veil between the natural and spirit worlds is thinnest. Ghosts walk abroad seeking to finish business left over from their former lives. Trick or Treat, Pumpkins and little goblins with sacks. If you could zap your front door into Bryce how would you decorate for Halloween? Gothic Horror, Stories like The fall of the house of Usher and The Raven. Do a cold lonely castle out on the moors or graveyard with lots of moonlight and fog. Classic or Modern Movie Horror, Frankenstein, The Wolfman, The Mummy, Pinhead, Aliens. Do a scene from your favorite film. There are many ways to take the Halloween theme without resorting to undressing the bimbet, and this month you set the rules.

Ah, in my mind Gothic is the artist Brom.

FWT, First of all - Congradulations! On the subject of a challenge topic, Gothic seems like a good idea but Gothic can have so many definitions: Architecture(Notre Dame), Writing(The Lady In White - or Romance writing in general)and many other things that you wouldn't at first think of as being Gothic. I liked Bron's Gallery - Her "The Hero" particurally impressed me. The only trouble I see with Goth is that it was done on Poser Forum a few months ago. The subject of differences in perception whether cultural or otherwise seems to be on a few peoples minds lately including mine. Perhaps something along these lines? - TJ
Halloween is just a popular subject. Invokes a lot more images in my mind than say, labor day. I love halloween... But the theme is "The Many Colors Of Autumn", focusing more on Oct's enviroment, than its holiday.

Yes, I know, but halloween was mentioned in the thread above apparently without recollection of it being used last year. So, as I said, (and which was the purpose of my post) there ought to be an index of past challenge subjects to prevent repetition. Anyone with a long memory who could do this? And yes, whatever "labor day" is, it evokes nothing to me at all. On the other hand, Moon Festival Day is very evocative. (To me, but maybe not to you ...)
perfect... whatever it is about this season that is the most evocative to you personally is exactly what I was looking for. For some it may actually be Halloween, for you in might be Moon Festival Day. My intent was to get a wider variety of images this month, rather than a lot of images of the same subject. And also to push everybody to create images with emotion and feeling and a little bit of themselves in them. Some don't need the pushing, some could benefit. :o)

I said... "ok.. here's what I've been thinking... where I am today, it is a cold, cloudy, rainy day...a week into October... how about a Halloween scene, or All Hallow's Eve, or your local culture's variation on the theme. Ghosts, ghoulies, bright lights that you feel compelled to walk toward, but you know you probably shouldn't. Only problem is... the poser galleries are all pretty much full of that kind of picture already. Do you want to do another? If not, there are other ideas running through my head. Any thought's, comments... ??? This is not an official declaration, I'll do that in a new thread, just a call for discussion." To which AgentSmith replied... "Perhaps the word "Gothic" helps bring up better Halloween mental images...uh, yeah like you said, new thread, lol." I reply... "Exactly, but I was trying to avoid using that term so as not to stir up any connotations of scantily armored Vickies in temples being chased by dragons. Which is why I hesitated to bring it up as a topic..., however, it is that time of year. Cliche, or not cliche... that is the question."
