The chat works, and no one comes in! I feel all alone every time I pop in to see if any of you lovely people are on. Ciao. Spec

I think you'd need to let people know you were there. I've never actually gotten it to work, but I bet there are people here who would chat if they knew you were interested. :)

Like you, perhaps? ;)

And anyone else that is interested, of course. I'm glad it's up again. I was getting tired of the CGI chatroom. Bleh. Spec

Well, not me, because I can't get it to work on my end, but I have a feeling there are others about who are better at these things than I am. What I would do is let people know when you will be there (time and time zone) and see what happens. Something that worked pretty well in other groups I've been involved in was that there was a standing "date" for chats so that everyone knew on that on a certain day and at a certain time for a couple of hours, people would be checking out the chat room. Could work here. :)

Hm. True, true. Well, I'm generally online from 4pm EST to about 10-11pm EST most weekdays. And I'll be in the Writers' chat about half the time. So, if anyone's interested, there I'll be. ;) Spec

I know that tjames was interested in getting a weekly chat going. Unfortunately, I can't do chats, but I'm sure if you asked around, you'd find others who are interested.

I like the idea of a set time - but to get everyone to agree on one time might be difficult.

dialyn ( ) posted Wed, 09 October 2002 at 6:59 AM

Not everyone may be able to join in because of the time zones and work schedueles, but if you know someone is checking the chat area out, you're more likely to visit, I think. Sure is worth a try if people are interested.

Outplacement program...LOL Good one! I don't chat much. You see, IF I chatted, then everyone would see how slow my replies/retorts are and how dullwitted I am. Even this message took too long to write. I need time to conceal my ineptitude.

Dragon dictate or via voice works with chat.

I'd love to be able to chat with all you guys but there's a couple of problems. Whenever I go into the Writers Forum chatroom, it tells me I've lost my connection (weird because it's definitely not true). The other problem is being in the UK when just about everyone else here is USA - timings are all wrong. Sigh. Someday, maybe.

ChuckEvans ( ) posted Wed, 09 October 2002 at 1:26 PM

This is what I get: Attempting to connect... Connected to host successfully. You have lost your connection to the server. Logged out from server. Attempting to connect... Connected to host successfully. ChuckEvans has entered the room ChuckEvans says: Hello ChuckEvans says: Well, chat works. Someone call, "No Whisper" was there but didn't say anything.

dialyn ( ) posted Wed, 09 October 2002 at 1:32 PM

At least it seems to be working for you. I'll have to give it a try when no one is watching at work. ;)
