THE PLACE FOR ALL THINGS BRYCE - GOT A PROBLEM? YOU'VE COME TO THE RIGHT PLACE

Subject: did you know?

I discovered something with Bryce during the last challenge. when you are in one of the orthographic views(top, front, right, etc) if you want to zoom, rather than just clicking on the zoom icons, you can zoom smoothly, by doing a click/drag one one of the icons. You can get more control with this little tip. for those who didn't know, big_hoovie

I usually just use the +/- keys on the keypad but this is useful info too.

That's weird - I've used Bryce for 9 months and I just found that out yesterday!

mboncher ( ) posted Thu, 10 October 2002 at 12:57 PM

I found that out when I was working on my "Country Station" model just recently as well. small world eh?

its amazing what secrets Bryce holds, no?

mboncher ( ) posted Thu, 10 October 2002 at 4:25 PM

It'd be even better if they'd TELL US that they put these features in the software in like an ohhhh I dunno... ummm a whatchamacallit... MANUAL! That's it. Is that too much to ask for our money? I don't think so. God forbid they'd help us do our work/hobby/art faster and better.

Mboncher, what are you thinking? If they made a good manual they couldn't charge for support calls! Thanks for the tip Big_Hoovie, I need more reasons to justify reading this forum at work. ;) Lin

You'll find all sorts of interesting key-shortcuts, etc. if you actually READ that folding "tips" (or whatever the hell they call it) card that comes with the software. THAT, I put up right next to my monitor when I first got Bryce, and have browsed thru it again frequently. Early-on I often saw things that I didn't know what the hell they were talking about, but later learned the function and then realized just what this or that key-combination was actually for. (Often after doing something the hard way for a while and then remembering "Oh, yeah - check the card & see...".)

I used my manual to prop up my monitor........LOL Anyway, Manual is a rude word over here. We call is the 'M' word........ Regards The Bryster

The true manual is "Real World Bryce", period.

(grins, agrees with AgentSmith!) Still, I missed that tip and I've been doing Bryce since Bryce 3D (it moves!)!!! Thanks, Hoovie!

AS: is that tip in real world? If it is, I certainly missed it. although, it's possible I didn't get to it yet. I've had the book since april, and have only gotten up to the camera stuff. everyone: your very welcome. just returning the favor given a hundred times over =c)

mboncher ( ) posted Fri, 11 October 2002 at 10:12 AM

Ah to quote the wise sage Yogi Berra: "It's like Deja Vu all over again." Maybe we should have a thread or something for tips and tricks of using Bryce.

Allen9 ( ) posted Fri, 11 October 2002 at 5:09 PM

Yep. Agentsmith hit it. Real World Bryce is THE manual, the one that comes in the box is suitable for propping up short desk legs and the like (it does have SOME info, but with RWB available, it's waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay outclassed).
