Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Dec 23 8:11 am)
You can unzip them like a compressed zip file. I read it somewhere and just tried it. When it unzips it doesn't put the cr2 extention at the end though and from looking at it in a text editer it still points to an obz(compressed obj file) file. You could load the figure in poser and resave to library with compression off.
Some people had problems unzipping them with Winzip and other utilities and also making them work in Poser afterwards. Safest solution is to disable file compression in Poser (General Preferences) and then re-save the figure with a new name. It will then be saved as a cr2 and you can look at it in any text editor.
If you have Poser 5, you don't have to resave the figure as a new name. Just run the Python script to uncompress the file. The script is specifically provided for this purpose. To use it, select Window : Python Scripts, choose Utility Funcs from the scripts panel, then Uncompress. Select the directory to uncompress, choose the Poser 5/Runtime to uncompress all of them or just to the particular directory to uncompress. To delete the compressed versions, select to delete the original files, then select Yes. When it is done, it will come back saying that the listed files were uncompressed. To recompress the files, choose Compress instead. -darlisa
Copy all the compressed files you want to uncompress to a directory someplace (unless you want uncompress them where they sit), then click the Window menu and select Python Scripts. There is a script in there someplace (I forget where and my copy of P5 is busy draping) that will uncompress any directory you point it at (with an option to delete the compressed files).
How to convert? I unzipped, opened in morph manager, when I got the text file I just resaved as .cr2. That said, be careful. If you change a P5 crz to a cr2, expect that the file won't be upgraded with the P5 patch. So, live with the mimic limitations or live without the patch. Can't have your cake and eat it too you know.

I need to take a look at some of the .Crz of some characters to see how their put together, but they .Crz's are compressed, so they can't be viewed with a text editor.
