I have not downloaded or installed any of the poser patches, I was afraid of crashes and the like. Anyway, my question is, can I download the latest version and just install it or do I have to install them in order from the first one? If you can answer, I sure appreciate it. Thank you veddy veddy mooch, Davo

No, You just need to install the latest patch. In fact, sometimes people who have cumulatively patched as updates come out have huge headaches because of it. It's always best to do a fresh install of the program, then apply the latest patch. If you have custom figures, etc... loaded into Poser 4 already, try just patching it without a fresh install from the CD, you should be fine. :-) Fiontar

I have held off untill last night when I was getting MASSIVE failures in Poser becuase I had a JPG that was made on a Mac and I found (thanks to Traveler) that Poser on a PC rolls over and dies when there are Mac JPG's loaded. I translaed everything into PC TIFF and it STILL crashed like a fat lady on a skateboard. Then I hit GhostEffect's site adn got the patch from there - turns out the files are the same as the ones i got tonight from Metacreations... No more problems! I won't use the Mac JPG's (when I can identify them as such) and everthing works great. I give credit where it is due - not to Metacreations...

That's right?????--that .jpgs from Macs cause major problems---hmmmmm. I've been loath to install the patch because I wasn't sure what it was going to entail. Now--I'll try it. (I don't know tho'---I use Diane TG's texture all the time and I'm pretty sure it was Mac created and is .jpeg. Are there specific ones??) Diane B

Diane I also use Diane's textures and I have the latest patch (118) and (::touches wood::) I've had no problems Paul

It may be the specific one's I was using, but they were made on a Mac. Since the patch I've had NOT a single crash. And it's thanks to the guy who make Poser in the first place...

I've had problems with Adobe Photoshop LE refusing to load some JPEGs which came with poser downloads, but Poser itself (with the 4.0.2.118 Beta patch) has handled everything I've thrown at it, including those JPEGs. Paintshop Pro opened them too. I have had to kill Poser once since installing the patch a week or two back, when it sat for five minutes doing nothing and not responding to mouse or keyboard at the beginning of a render; but it can take so long to start rendering complex scenes on my machine that I don't know whether the software had locked up for good or was just thinking extra hard!

I finally installed the patch last night. My trouble was Poser putting the default ground texture (or none) on walls with their own textures (the right ones showed on preview mode, the glitch only happened on rendering). The patch solved nothing (OTOH, nothing wrong new happened). I had to delete almost any of the unseen figures/props of the scene to get a good render.
