Sweet - I love the text effects too!

Nice concept Spike...text effects are cool. If you don't mind me saying, the obvious demarcation line below the knuckles distracts me a bit, what is that? Cool shot anyway...I find myself wishing for more megapixels...more megapixels, more megapixels... ;-)>

Thanks everyone! PC, are you talking about the white chalk? This is a shot of my hand holding on to a "hold" (A thing that is bolted to a wall for rock climbing) The white chalk is used to keep your hands dry when climbing. You cary it in a pouch that hangs from a belt behind you (see link). The chalk tends to cling to your hands that way. I did a shot without the chalk and it looked to setup. The idea of this shot was to give the feel that you were way off the ground hanging on. The fact of this shot is that I am standing on the groung pulling to the left. I just rotated the image in PS. I find that a shallow DOF gives it the feeling of distance I was looking for. Thinking of changing the text to just white. In the first image (not posted) I had the "Planet Granite" text covering the arm. This did not flow well and cut the image up too much. I LIke this one much better than the first. As always, I am open for comments. Thanks Spike

Yep, D100, I am just loving the shit out of mine. One of the coolest things is that I can now do 8x10 printed at 300dpi without having to upsize the image any. Well, it's more like 6.61 X 10 I think. I realy reduced this image above to post it here as it was very large. It look 100% better printed than posted here as well.

Great shot Steve, I like the camera angle and your right to use the chalk, an essential part of climbing. One little suggestion the fingers dont seem to have much tension in them, I might be wrong, but It might be more dramatic if the climber was to hold his weight on the grip. :O)

danob, the 13 meg one will drive the 6 meg prices down too.. mysnapz, I agree, tension would be cool. This is my hand and I was running back and forth between the camera and the wall. It's hard to set up a shot when your also the subject. I tried a few and the ones I got, the hand was all weird looking when I was pulling, I think it will be a combo of tension and posed. Maybe I can get my wife to be the hand model.. I also have some ideas with legs and calfs(sp). Time will tell. Thanks fro the feedback. :)

Great shot. It is even more amazing that you did the photo and was the model. Did you use the timer or do you have a remote control?

Ok, just did another version: More chalk More tension on the hand Added some texture to the text and lightened it up some to help it stand out more. I think I like it better. Your thoughts?

This second one is really cool, improvement one the first one, I really like it. The only thing I would suggest would be to move the shadow of the text away from or behing the arm just a little........

Thanks! When I sided this image down to post, I forgot to reset the shadows in PS so they kind of went wild.
