Subject: What's the Platinum Club at DAZ ???

Dave-So ( ) posted Mon, 14 October 2002 at 7:28 PM · edited Thu, 28 November 2024 at 7:58 AM

I was just at the DAZ store...there are prices listed for Platinum Club...very low prices. What is the Platinum Club?

It'll be a subscription to DAZ, eg you pay say a yearly fee and for that fee you will get a preferential status which will probably take the form of discounts and extra freebies as well as maybe extra newsletters etc. Cant say for sure though as I havent taken a look but I presume this is what it will be.

Platinum Club Membership: 1 year Code: ps_pc0001r Price: $99.99 Doesnt seem to have been fully implemented yet though as doing a search for the above code yeilds zero results. But it is added as a Column to the search facility.

Ouch! Looks like I had better hold off on spending the $50 I planned to spend. Take a look at the Beastmasters.

VIDandCGI ( ) posted Mon, 14 October 2002 at 8:50 PM

Looks like a good buy for those that use poser alot and purchase a lot from DAZ. Will be interesting to see what this means for DAZ brokered artists though, as I already notice that 1 brokeree has their item available via the PClub. Does Daz have new terms for brokerage etc. ?

Rance01 ( ) posted Mon, 14 October 2002 at 8:57 PM

Man, after reading some of the posts I don't mind the amount$ and great lengths I've gone to. What a hobby. Maybe I should take up fishing. Keep it all: we're driving the economy;)

Dave-So ( ) posted Mon, 14 October 2002 at 9:18 PM

$100.....have to think about that a bit...there are some good buys....suppose if You bought all the stuff that's marked Platinum, it may make it worthwhile :)....the $100 straight up is a bit much for me..I usually buy 1 or 2 items at a time...and now that the new stuff is reduced price, that's when I buy them..or if I have a coupon.

Little_Dragon ( ) posted Mon, 14 October 2002 at 9:45 PM

Hmmm ... the Dragon-Folk advert mentions the included Millennium Dragon Breath Weapon. I wonder if that'll be sold separately. The Platinum Club pricing amounts to a 92% discount on some items. I see that they've been keeping Anton busy. :)

dampeoples ( ) posted Mon, 14 October 2002 at 9:53 PM

92% discount is well worth the money up front! "Maybe I should take up fishing." Don't bother, I did and it's worse. I have a Jon Boat, thinking that would be cheaper....it's now worth 5k! (well, to me, the guy who bought all the stuff to hang on it) ;)

danfarr ( ) posted Mon, 14 October 2002 at 9:59 PM

Dave,

So glad to see you still hanging around;) The Platinum Club is one of the most exciting things that we have done for a long time. As many people know, we hired Anton Kisiel over 3 months ago but no one has seen much of what he has been working on for us. He has been working very hard developing some awesome products that we are including within the Platinum Club. We also have Lisa Buckalew, Merrilyn Ellison, and Elusion who have also developed some of the great products for the Club.

Club membership is $99 but as always we are going to offer an "act now or forever hold your peace price". Once you have the membership you can purchase the great products within the club section for $1.99 Each. With a club membership you will also be able to save 30% off of the advertized price of DAZ created products in the main section of the store. More details when th store opens.

Dan Farr

P.S. It is getting close.

Okay, the only question for me now is if Vicki3 will have a club discount price!!! ;) Nice to see that LisaB, Dmentia and Elusion are working with DAZ too - at least we know the old complaint of not getting textures till a third party makes them is going to be history. And now the textures have to be DAZ quality too.

Gee, Dan. That sounds really neat. Unfortunately, I'm sure I'll miss this date, just like I missed trying to buy the MilDragon for over a month because your web server can only tell me, "Your email address was not found in the database," and Ryan informed me not to open a new account because my old one might be recovered from tape someday. Yes, Dan, it's me. I initially wrote you on 9/20. For almost two months your systems (and employees) have managed to alienate me, as if the two grand I spent with you wasn't real money. Maybe I could buy something from you again if I drive up there and gently place the cash on your desk? Unbelievable.

Gosh Migal, I am sorry you are having problems, I hope they straighten things out for you soon.

"Gosh Migal, I am sorry you are having problems, I hope they straighten things out for you soon."

Dan never replied to me, but I know he's aware of it. I think at one point, he just got tired of trying to get his service people to help me and gave up. It is absolutely, bar-none, the most bizarre customer/vendor relationship I've ever heard of. They must be making an awful lot of money to just throw my business in the trash like that. I could post page after page of preposterous e-mail correspondence to prove what I'm saying. It bums me out, too. Because, from a products standpoint, I think they're the bomb. But, from a business perspective, pure comedy. I hope they have somebody better than their web programmers and service folks creating their product to compete with CL, for their sake.

And sorry for ranting on like this. Poor form, no doubt. I guess I'm so toweringly offended by DAZ's treatment of me that I'm not being particularly gracious. I'll endeavor to be more cheerful in the future.

aleks ( ) posted Tue, 15 October 2002 at 4:10 AM

migal, sorry to hear that. i can only say that from my point of view and experience, daz is the most helpfull company i've ever dealt with. never i had to wait for more then a couple of hours for an answer or a help - even when it was me goofing - and i mail to them from germany, from entirely opposite time zone.

Hisminky ( ) posted Tue, 15 October 2002 at 5:10 AM

Man, the PC ROCKS!. I yanked my credit card out so fast I think I broke the sound barrier. After I bought the membership, I added 20 items to my cart for the modest price of 43 bucks. Brilliant marketing Daz.

Little_Dragon ( ) posted Tue, 15 October 2002 at 5:13 AM

I don't see how they expect to turn a profit on this, unless it's through sheer volume. Not that I'm complaining.

FyreSpiryt ( ) posted Tue, 15 October 2002 at 5:38 AM

::drools:: I know what toy I'm getting when I get home. I am so down with this. I'll get my money back just on some of the things I've been wanting that I was waiting for a sale on. *<:^)

artbyphil ( ) posted Tue, 15 October 2002 at 5:56 AM

I couldn't resist joining this millenium club got my menbership and made an order. The order went though as normal but Ufortunatly somthing dosn't seem to be working as I didnt get a download option for the product and it says I have no downloads available. I've sent a mail to Daz hopefully they can sort it out for me pretty fast. All that great stuff and I can't get at it!

FishNose ( ) posted Tue, 15 October 2002 at 6:43 AM

Migal, just start over with a new account and a new mail address, or the old address again - don't wait for DAZ to sort this out. My old mail server died some months ago and I simply initiated a new account at DAZ, no problem. :] Fish

andix ( ) posted Tue, 15 October 2002 at 10:38 AM

Dan.... so when you going to lift the requirement that says all stuff sold at DAZ by brokered artists (effectively) has to be exclusive? thats why we're not in your store....oh, and the crappy percentage of course.
