A bigger version of this available in my gallery. Pretty basic, I still don't like the texture of the ground because it doesn't seem to hold enough depth. The bench kinda sits on air, and the leaf is not curved (I tried making it with a terrain, but it's virtually impossible to make it exactly as I want it), but at least it's somewhat photorealistic. That's about it. Let me know what you guys think :)

I agree the brick needs some depth, but i love the shadowz on the bench and ground, and the bit of the green showing behind the bench, ive been trying to make some leaves myself in bryce and i just cant seem to get it right they are either too flat or to square???

yeah. In the Bryce library under trees there's a flattened spehere with a leaf texture applied to it. I tried making the same thing with the texture I had, and it came out transparent. I'm sure it's possible to make it, I just didn't have the patience for it. So yeah... it's either flat or none at all. OR!!! make a whole tree, and then just negative everything except for one leaf!!! yeah. Bryce 6 better have something useful in the tree department or I'm complaining :)

Beautiful play on shadow and light, it is a lovely image and if you do give the ground some depth I think the bench will stop floating. Catlin

I just realized that in my hurry I rendered it with basic depth. I should re-do it with Premium. And push the bench farther down into the ground :) thanks catlin!

Cool image, but man, those shadows are harsh! Not what you'd expect from autumn. If render time permits, use soft shadows with an intensity of 60 or 70 at most. No need to render at premium settings.

i'm working on it again. you're right! :)

Great scene... love the rock texture. I cant decide if I like the newspaper being so parallel to the bench tho.

draculaz ( ) posted Tue, 15 October 2002 at 6:12 AM

it's supposedly falling off the bench :)

it almost seems as if the paper is throwing back too much light, maybe knock down the ambience a bit, not the color though, color is perfect. Great realism!

I have to Disagree I think the shadows in autumn are very strong, on a crystal clear day aound 2:00 I think thats what makes the picture as cool as it is!
