Subject: multiple figures in poser

Does anyone know if I can use more than on figure at a time in Poser? I have a small scene requiring more than one figure and I wondered if I can build and render it in Poser or if I must make each figure separatly and combine them in another program like Bryce? thank you for any information you might have. maria

You absolutely can have more than one figure in a scene at one time. The problem you run in to is that at some point the computer slows down too much. Also, if you use P4 you can run into a crosstalk problem between figures. But, there are ways around that. Is your question can you or how to?

Bam, thank you very much for the quick response. I guess my next question is how? I'm looking through the users guide but I haven't found the answer yet. If you can direct to where I can find it that would be great. maria

Choose your second figure and click the double-plus sign (++) instead of the single one. That loads it instead of replacing the first.

A million thanks. I thought the double checks added it to the library. I am so glad I was wrong. Again, many thanks. I shall finish this project now. maria

If your going to use multiple figures in your renders you'll find Nerd's Crosstalk fixer an essential utility. You'll find it at http://www.nerd3d.com/EMC/EMCstuff.htm Add it to your scene before you add your second figure. Without it Poser can't differentiate between the body parts of the separate figures. Move an arm on one and you're likely to find all of your figures waving at you. Adding it allows Poser to rename the duplicate body parts. Using it I've produced renders with 3 Vickys 2 Stephanies and 2 Posettes in the same scene with no problems.

Wow! that sounds like something I'll have to get. Thank you. Sorry to bother you guys so much I haven't used Poser very often (Like that's a secret" :>)) I'm pretty much familiar with Bryce but until this project came up I haden't used Poser very often. I was amazed at the wonderful things it could do. Now, I'm trying to learn all I can about it. thanks again, maria

That Crosstalk problem only seems to occur for Vicky 2. I did not run into it for Vicky 1. Did others find the same thing?

and - if you want to know about posing more then one character you could have a look at the tuturial on my website: and you can find this and that pose there (around 2500 sets) btw: You use poses on your figures to move them like shown in the images ...

In my experience large, multi-character scenes are a pain to work with in Poser, given the generally sluggish nature of the program. It's really easier in the long run to work on each figure separately in Poser and then export them to another app where you can compose the final scene much more easily.

Phantast - it works if the figures don't interact ... Maybe you should also not pose in full shaded mode ... knocking down the visuality of a figure (maybe to comic-mode) gets you also a bit faster. But however - if you want to get a good RENDERED image you have to export it in Vue or Bryce anyway ...

smhaus - I also get crosstalk with Michael2, but now I use the Millennium Null figure available from Nerd's site which fixes it perfectly.
