Thanks Eric for this great information. We will need it all:-). Guitta

What's the catch? Free? There has got to be a catch somewhere. It dies after so long like 30 days or something. Got to be a catch Free is a four letter word...

Vue 2 complete were also given away for free, true FREE:-)!

Will the magazine be available in Europe? regards maria

Myske, it IS an European magazine (UK). But this doesn't mean that you can find it in all European countries. You always can order it directly if you cannot find it. :-)Guitta

Don't think I have seen it in Norway. But theres 5-6 magazine shops around here, so I'm still lokking :) Hopefully it turns up in one of the others, if not.

Is it available in the USA? I've never been able to find Digit at any of my newsstands. :-( And they always seem to have the best freebies. Bummer. I think I'll call every bookstore in town to see if I can track this one down. What's the learning curve like for Xfrog, by the way? jon

If you have a Borders bookstore in your neighbourhood you may find it there.

Pete :

:) there's always a catch... this is a limited version without all the modeling / animation tools that you can find in the latest Xfrog. But it's nevertheless a complete software (no 30 days limit).

jstro :

Xfrog is quite easy to use... It's a modular procedural software : the plants are made of an hierarchy of elements (root, tree, leaves, etc...). There is actually no modeling involved.

Ya, Xfrog is great to add to our complete Vue scene where plant control is limited. DIGIT is a quality publication when compares with Computer Arts, at least I find that it gives out freebies and more quality writeup. But it is quite hard to find from any newstand only where certain places few copies are available Rg Ed

Thanks for this great news Eric, maybe I will order it on the web (?) ;=) Yves

All right. One of the Barnes and Nobels in town carries it. Unfortunatley they still had the September issue on the stands, so I'll have to check back. I called about seven places before I found anyone that carried it. Evidnetly not wildly popular in these parts and very hard to find. jon

I was able to order just the one issue on their website for 9.99 english pounds shipped to the US - don't know what the pound to dollar exchange rate is right now, but it should still be $20 or so, so not a bad deal.

For a magazine, it's not so cheap

jstro ( ) posted Sun, 20 October 2002 at 7:51 AM

But for XFrog, you pretty much can't beat the price. jon

Well before you go spend that money, YL, better read this thread. May not be as good a deal as it sounded. I'll probably still get it but ssaving models may be a problem. jon

Thanks , I already read it Jon . I agree with you that this offer is not clear at all . For me free is free. For example I had Vue 2 in "Computer art", it was free. Sometimes there are some special offers, some demos, it's always said " you can not saved more than 20 times" (rhino soft), or you can not build more than 60000 polys. In that case it's clear. ;=) Yves P.S. : xfrog seems interesting, maybe an old version will be available for complete free ;=)
