Subject: New Site Launched

First a quick thanks to Penguinisto for his generosity in offering to host my humble collection of Poser related crap. Second, a big thanks to everyone here who sent supporting emails to myself and the young lady who was previously hosting my site. We both appreciate the effort made to write them. And finally. I promised everyone in that long thread that Ironbear started that I would let you all know when the site went live. It's here, it's 98% done (still a couple pages to write and the tips section to get sorted) and I'm virtually brain dead from arranging it and running ftp sessions. So, have fun, please don't beat the crap out of the bandwidth and behave yourselves. Hopefully there's something up there in my junkyard that someone will find useful. There's more to come. I've got a bunch of new models almost ready to be uploaded, they should be there in the next few days.

Questor ( ) posted Tue, 22 October 2002 at 12:49 AM

Oh, and yes. I will be adding a "What's New" page, so people don't have to go digging through what seems to be turning into a bottomless pit. :)

chohole ( ) posted Tue, 22 October 2002 at 1:20 AM

A bottomless pit indeed. but what a wonderful one. So much to choose from. I am glad that you have set up a new site, and I sincerely hope that you will have a happy time running it, without any repeat ot the previous nastiness. Petty people like that don't belong in the poser community.

Looks great Questor! Really looking forward to delving into the bottomless pit to see what you've got down there. I second chohole - I hope this is a more rewarding experience for you. This stuff is supposed to be fun!

EricofSD ( ) posted Tue, 22 October 2002 at 1:57 AM

Thanks questor. I went to the link, clicked on enter site and got another mainly text screen with paragraphs overlaping each other, clicked on enter here again and got to your button bar site with all your selections. I'm on IE6 with all the latest updates and win2ksp3. Sometimes a web site works well in one browser and the layers overlap on another. Might want to explore that.

That's from index2. I've had these kinds of problems before, no big deal, but they can be a royal pain in the arsh to fix for all the different browsers out there.

EricofSD ( ) posted Tue, 22 October 2002 at 2:01 AM

IM me when you get this and I'll delete the above.

TrekkieGrrrl ( ) posted Tue, 22 October 2002 at 3:25 AM

EricofSD... I can recreate your error by setting the font size used by my browser to a greater level than the normal "medium" Try setting it to medium and it won't overlap. (If you have a mouse with scroll wheel, just click CTRL while scrolling the wheel to change font size - it MIGHT have been altered by accident)

You just can't put the words "Poserites" and "happy" in the same sentence - didn't you know that? LaurieA
Using Poser since 2002. Currently at Version 11.1 - Win 10.

EricofSD ( ) posted Tue, 22 October 2002 at 4:07 AM

It was at medium, but I set it to smaller and checked again. The overlap was less noticable but still there.

Bladesmith ( ) posted Tue, 22 October 2002 at 6:41 AM

So I finally get to download the terminator I've been kicking myself for not downloading before....Glad to see you back, Pete. Excellent bottomless pit.

Lemurtek ( ) posted Tue, 22 October 2002 at 6:41 AM

Cool, Questor, excellent site, love your stuff! Regards- Lemurtek

Bladesmith ( ) posted Tue, 22 October 2002 at 6:47 AM

Darnit, he's not up for download yet..... (patiently crosses fingers and waits)

EricofSD. Damn that's uglleeeeeee. Sorry mate. I need a little more info. What browser are you using? I've checked the site in IE and Opera and Mozilla but there's that many variations I don't have all on my system. Give me a clue what you're using there and I'll see if I can fix it. I'm pretty sure that it's a font problem causing this but it'll be browser related. It should look like the image I've posted. Anyway, tell me the browser and I'll see what I can do. Sorry about that. Bladesmith - Yes he is, I forgot to link the file. Sorry. :(

Thanks for the great site! I downloaded the Great Hall but found that all the geometry/object files are missing (GreatHalluv.obj, etc.). Hope you'll put those in! Thanks again. PS I also have the overlap problem due to layers. I'm using XP Pro on a 1.8GHz Dell with IE 6.0.

Ok, Mr.Fossil, I have looked at your site and you have done a great job on it! I did notice however that you have for some reason FAILED to post a picture of yourself! How will I get you into the face room if I can't find a picture of you? All I can say on the health issuse is I feel your pain, as I have arthritis down my whole spine, and it is very painful and limits everything I do, on my way to the Doc today and tomorrow to see if I need more surgery :( But thats a whole different subject. I didn't download anything yet but saw quite a few goodies I would like to get :) So great job on the site, thanks in advance for anything I may nab from the downloads, and take care of yourself, and most of all POST a pic!

Post a Picture??!!! Are you mad, Sir? Give away a picture to the likes of you......ok :) Great to see you back and running

spratman ( ) posted Tue, 22 October 2002 at 10:10 AM

I gotta say &*^$% amazing! the guns alone, I mean jeepers they're like 10 times better than whats out there. Ok I'm gonna tie my mouse hand down and resist the urge to download everything, but gosh there's some neat stuff in there. Thanx! Cool interface too. My only request, maybe a picture of a figure holding some of your more elclectic weapons... I mean the prune gun is hilariously cool, but how do you hold the thang?

Questor ( ) posted Tue, 22 October 2002 at 10:11 AM

Poser: I'm sorry but I thought I'd made it quite clear on both pages that the texture is loaded to that it's a "bonus" texture from Renapd and the model is available from 3DArena as a site support item. It's also stated that only textures, lights and cameras are in that download. Perhaps it wasn't clear enough? GeeP: Thanks. That line is my favourite out of the whole site too. :) Pokeydots: There are three people who could probably shut down the internet in abject horror of they posted a pic of themselves. Ironbear, Allen9 and me. Don't ask for such a thing, it would be more than human minds could withstand. LOL Have to agree with mon1alpha too, I don't know that I'd trust what you'd do with a picture. :)

Questor ( ) posted Tue, 22 October 2002 at 10:16 AM

Spratman. It's okay to download what you want, but I'd appreciate it if it was done gradually over a couple days rather than in one strike. :) Schlabber was going to create some poses for the fruit guns but everyone got kind of distracted following the lunacy that caused those. I have some more of those weapons to upload and I'll make some poses for them as well. Any preference for figure? The prune gun is held by the joystick style grip at the back and a handle just above the barrels. :) I've been asked for some poses for a few of the other weapons too, and that will be attended to over the next couple of weeks. For the western guns, take a look at Don Albert's Gunslingers over at Daz, some good poses in that collection (and check out the Daz Free Archive too, you'll find some for Steph if you have her)
