Put my dot on

Dark_Whisper ( ) posted Tue, 22 October 2002 at 11:09 AM

night - folks... I'm going home to my wife. I'll check in again tomorrow morning. zzzZZZzzz d

who3d ( ) posted Tue, 22 October 2002 at 11:19 AM

As with the POV-Ray version a few years back...I've increased the chances that the UK will be knee-deep in water sooner rather than later (no, all I did was click a map, honest!) Cliff Bowman

samcclung65 ( ) posted Tue, 22 October 2002 at 11:34 AM

Very neat idea. Central US seems kind of bare. No other Oklahoma users?

KateTheShrew ( ) posted Tue, 22 October 2002 at 11:35 AM

I can't put a dot on the map. I can't even find the map. No IE on this computer. Oh well. That's what I get for not being "mainstream"

starlet ( ) posted Tue, 22 October 2002 at 11:37 AM

I added a dot for Curious Labs. :)

guslaw ( ) posted Tue, 22 October 2002 at 11:49 AM

I'm in - lost in the metro New York area...

Skygirl ( ) posted Tue, 22 October 2002 at 12:15 PM

A woman like you dont need a dot on a map. We all know you are around :-) Sky.

Fredy ( ) posted Tue, 22 October 2002 at 12:24 PM

Yeah - real nice idea!

Darkginger ( ) posted Tue, 22 October 2002 at 12:39 PM

I don't believe it! The only other person in Ireland is called Storm (hi Storm if you're reading this!) - and that's my alternate nick, that I use on most other sites...what a coincidence! Brilliant idea!

PilotHigh ( ) posted Tue, 22 October 2002 at 12:43 PM

G4; 9.2.2; IE 5.1.6.

I clicked the add button and filled out info but no new dot appeared. Also when I drag the mouse over the dots I don't get any list or anything.

StormyGal ( ) posted Tue, 22 October 2002 at 12:47 PM

Added ;) Kewl idea and lots of fun :) I like the hovering thing where you can actually see where someone lives :)

lordbyron ( ) posted Tue, 22 October 2002 at 12:49 PM

Add another dot for the Lone Star... --lb

adoli ( ) posted Tue, 22 October 2002 at 1:01 PM

chohole ( ) posted Tue, 22 October 2002 at 1:01 PM

Definately looks as though the UK is gonna sink. got my spot on.

Sure are a lot of dots on there. woohooo!!!, slid right in.

Alicia_B ( ) posted Tue, 22 October 2002 at 1:13 PM

pretty cool idea .. nice one !!!

artdude41 ( ) posted Tue, 22 October 2002 at 1:20 PM

DARK !! . bru .we are the only 2 dots in S.A. lol

Petunia ( ) posted Tue, 22 October 2002 at 1:21 PM

147 long 61 lat is off the chart... but that is where I am

thip ( ) posted Tue, 22 October 2002 at 1:30 PM

My dot's on - but not spot on ;o) The position given in the database of world cities would put me somewhere in southern Sweden, and I do live in Denmark. Then again, Denmark is about the size of the dot, so why be picky ;o)

ChromeTiger ( ) posted Tue, 22 October 2002 at 1:30 PM

People always said I was a bit dotty...now I guess they're right! :) Quite a few users closer than I thought...the idea of a SE Poser Conference/BBQ comes to mind... CT

sparrowheart ( ) posted Tue, 22 October 2002 at 1:55 PM

I love seeing all of those dots of colour, and knowing that each one represents someone who I have at least one thing in common with. Thanks, Dark Whisper, for brightening my day!! Kimberly

EvoShandor ( ) posted Tue, 22 October 2002 at 2:07 PM

I find it interesting that some of y'all on the west coast live in the ocean. j/k Evo

Lapis is on the map! Hell of a marketing tool. Very clever! What a way to gather a database.

I'm on too... looks like the UK is about to sink now!

TrekkieGrrrl ( ) posted Tue, 22 October 2002 at 2:54 PM

Heh this is funny. But the longitude/latitude is a bit offset, if I find the position on the link from PabloS I end up in SWEDEN :o( So I plced the dot at the point where it should be on the map (approximately, all of Denmark is filled with my dot now G) but the longitude/latitude is not correct. Neat idea though :o)

Oh, this is the coolest thing! I always wanted to be a pin on a map! Looks like the US and Europe are crowded with poser users. I'm surprised I'm not tripping over them in the street! LOL mac

Staby ( ) posted Tue, 22 October 2002 at 3:12 PM

My dot is on the map too. It is very interesting to see the distribution of the poser users/Renderosity members.

idolitry ( ) posted Tue, 22 October 2002 at 3:22 PM

Ok I'm in. My dot may be the one that sinks the UK

herr67 ( ) posted Tue, 22 October 2002 at 3:25 PM

I didn't realize that there are that many Englishmen here, I'm a Yankee. Hello from across the pond!

Redleaf ( ) posted Tue, 22 October 2002 at 3:32 PM

The longitude/latitude isn't quite right - at least for non-US cities. Tried the numbers given for Ottawa and it put me much too far west. I ended up placing my dot close where I knew it should be. Some people are a little off though (must have gone with the longitude & latitude given). There's one dot for Montreal that's way north near James Bay and a dot for Toronto that has it close to New Brunswick.

zalmegra ( ) posted Tue, 22 October 2002 at 3:47 PM

Well, I'm there. I'm surrounded by fellow users in the Southeast US. Definitely need to get together sometime folks.

narsil ( ) posted Tue, 22 October 2002 at 4:20 PM

Well two of us from NZ are there now :) LOL WiNC

Crescent ( ) posted Tue, 22 October 2002 at 5:12 PM

Is there any way to modify our dots so they're more accurate? I did the coordinate thing and I'm off from where I should be. This is a really cool idea, btw, and I love your site design!

maclean ( ) posted Tue, 22 October 2002 at 5:26 PM

'I didn't realize that there are that many Englishmen here' Er.... there are even a few Scotsmen too. LOL. Only kidding. I'm a Brit. Yeah, the coordinates are a bit off. I'm no longer in the Alps, but ended up somewhere in Central Northern Italy. Oh well.... as long as I don't have to move house... What would be REALLY cool would be a magnifier for this map. Any wannabe programmers out there? mac

Replicant ( ) posted Tue, 22 October 2002 at 5:47 PM

A magnifier would be useful. I got in early. I've now been overdotted. Yggdrasil you're heavy. Get orf me! :o).

I would be swimming in the Pacific if I used the right numbers. Close as I can get it. Great Ideal. Tashar 59

Barryw ( ) posted Tue, 22 October 2002 at 6:40 PM

Yea it's a little off, my numbers put me in the Bearing Straight!! Any way I eyeballed it, only two of us in AK right now!!

hmatienzo ( ) posted Tue, 22 October 2002 at 7:26 PM

I think I came as close as I could get... silly tiny town in Germany, LOL!

Wow, that is so cool! I'm in central Florida, and my little dot is surrounded by other Poser users... I never knew!

Interesting Idea. Added my dot, thanks to PabloS and his (her) link! Illinois has a few users at least. :)

badmoon ( ) posted Tue, 22 October 2002 at 8:52 PM

Just added my dot. Don't think it matters if the UK sinks now, there are so many dots that we've just created a new landmass. ;)
