That's really strange. 230K! When my files are 16000 Bytes they are rejected. I do wonder why some tumb load so slow. I've got the problem too occasionally, even with ADSL broadband I sometimes have to wait for several minutes for one of the tumbnails to show.

There were techinical difficulties with the servers a few days ago, we're still feeling the aftershocks from it. No upgrading this time, some random pc part sizzled, and had to be completely replaced. The uploads sections are "programmed" Not to allow thumbs bigger than 200x200 or 15kb. This is always the case, but apparently some have slipped through. What usually happens is someone goes to upload their thumbnail, and uploads the main picture instead. Noramlly, this accident is stopped, but I'm sure with recent server weirdness some accidents have occured. Normalicy will return at some point, sorry for the giant thumbnails. AgentSmith

I try to get my thumbnails to 13k or even 12k if possible. Compression also depends on the number of colors in the pic (thumbnail), blah, etc. Sometimes it's hard to get them under 15k without showing a lot of artifacts. AgentSmith

I checked the thumbs I've posted so far and all is well, all under 15K. Although the thumb size defences are getting very rigourous. I tried to upload one yesterday and it knocked me back three times until I discovered that the thumb size was 201 x 150. That 1 pixel makes all the difference. :) Catlin

Is there any chance of getting the 15K limit on thumbs enforced by the s/w? I'm on the slowest dial-up known to humanity and I'm getting a bit tired of waiting for 10 minutes whilst a gallery page loads just because people can't be arsed to observe the 15K rule on thumbs. I saw one of over 200K the other day. And it'll reduce the overall bandwidth, hint hint!
