Subject: Ice Age

Has anyone here seen the film "Ice Age" ? It was made using Maya and is absolutely superb. The models are realistic in the extreme and the textures, Oh, the textures. The fur on the animals is beautiful. This, to me, is what computer animation is all about. Everything about it is perfect I laughed from start to finish and have watched it twice in the past two days with the same joy each time. If you get the chance you should watch it. Catlin

Yeah, great film. You should try shrek and Monsters inc too. They're really good. I wish I can work on films like that one day.

Yep, seen it too. It's films like that, that have gotten me into 3D art and animation. Unfortunately at the age of 37 it's probably too late to get into the business :(

both are fantastic! ...Aldaron, don't worry business is strange and also remember that the first thing is fun!

That's one reason I hesitate to make it a career, it might lose the fun then :) The other reason is by the time I learn to be real good at this I may be old and grey. LOL

There was a movie made using bryce, called infinity's child.

tjohn ( ) posted Tue, 22 October 2002 at 11:47 PM

Infinity's Child was a sequel to Planetary Traveler (also made with Bryce), which I think was even better. It's worth tracking down.

This is not my "second childhood". I'm not finished with the first one yet.

Shrek's my favorite, Monsters, Inc was good too. I didn't know "Ice Age" was out on DVD, or did you see it in the theatre?

I've heard that Final Fantasy was at least partly made in Bryce. Never checked the information, though. Shrek is great. But they used proprietary software and rendered it on more than a thousand computers. There's a featurette called "The Tech of Shrek" on the DVD. Highly recommendable for any 3D buff. Not to mention that the film is great.

I've seen them all but has to be said that ice age is above them all. Super animation combined with superb humor.
