Subject: Annoyance with Platinum Club

a_super_hero ( ) posted Wed, 23 October 2002 at 9:12 AM · edited Tue, 26 November 2024 at 7:29 AM

Hi, I do like the platimun club, very much. But I do have the annoyance of having to make sure I get everything that I want. If you do not fill out an order and finish it in a certain amount of time, your shopping cart is gone and you have to get everything again. I wish there would be some easy way to get everything rather then rushing around with a slow connection hoping you get everything with a new release. An simple solution would be to offer all of the textures to be downloaded at once in a bundle for the same price of buying all 10 for the the fairy textures, rather then playing beat the clock. Buying a couple of things it is not a problem, but buying a lot can be like pulling out hair. I spent 3 hours after I got the Platium Club Membership trying to get everything that I wanted before it dumped everything again and again. Thanks, Super

I agree that the eronomics of the site need some work!

Spit ( ) posted Wed, 23 October 2002 at 10:21 AM

I have a slow connection myself and am actually grateful that the packages are smaller to download. What I do when I'm buying is to only get one or two at a time. When they're paid for and downloaded I go back for more...heh.

Lapis ( ) posted Wed, 23 October 2002 at 10:25 AM

Spit, hows the debt racking up? I think a second mortgage is in order from my end!

a_super_hero ( ) posted Wed, 23 October 2002 at 10:27 AM

Well, I do not mind the small packages to download, just a large number of packages to sign up individusally.

Spit ( ) posted Wed, 23 October 2002 at 10:58 AM

LOL, Lapis. I don't even have a first mortgage! Food shopping will be tight this week...but my Poser people have all the clothes they need. Heh They still don't have all the clothes they want but that will be taken care of soon I'm sure.

Lapis ( ) posted Wed, 23 October 2002 at 11:30 AM

Ah, just dress them up in faery attire and that'll keep em pacified!

PheonixRising ( ) posted Wed, 23 October 2002 at 12:54 PM

No decision makes everyone happy but people have been asking for smaller packages for a long time. Customers were expressing concerns of having to buy more than what they accually wanted or needed. No need to play "beat the clock". Just make a list of what you want before you fill up your cart. No need to browse and use the cart at the same time if time is an issue. Issues you feel might be glitches can be forwarded to reachel@daz3d.com. She doesn't read the forums. Hope it works out for you. Anton anton@daz3d.com Daz3D Platinum CLub

Hello, The problem was, I did make the list, tried to get everything into the cart, and then download. I do not have a problem with downloading seperatly. It is, I add items A, B, and C to the cart. When I tried to add Item L to the cart, it says the cart is empty and I have to start over from item A. It happened 5 times and was very annoying three and a half hours. I finally took my web server down and other items offline in order to rush and purchase the items with around 20 different windows open. I am hoping there could be a shoping cart so I can buy it one way (all of them together of a similar new item like the fairy wings by all the fairy wings 9 textures for $18) or another (buy it seperatly for only one item at a time for $2). Thanks, Super

Hi, I hope not to make it sound so serious, but this problem only occurs if you are ordering a lot (like I did with the opening of the platimum site) and the daz site is bogged for displaying pictures. Another thing was that I did not want to wait to contact the next morning and not wanting to have 5 $10 dollar charges on my credit card, prefering just one big charge. If you only want to get one or two, it is fine system, just you might try and increase the session timeout code on the server.

Lapis ( ) posted Wed, 23 October 2002 at 3:05 PM

Ergonomically speaking, I would suggest only one step to get an item into the shopping cart instead of the 2 step process it is now. You also have to back up 2 steps to go back to shopping. This is inefficient and confusing for some people. This keeps the server tied up longer than necessary. There are some very good examples of well designed "shopping interface". I'll track some down for you! A little speed boost would be nice too. Its always nice to be on a site that snaps! Yours is a little slow at times! Thanks for listening!

heyas; why the heck is there a time limit on your cart?? can't they just program it to remember stuff longer?

Tashar59 ( ) posted Wed, 23 October 2002 at 5:24 PM

That Is weird, I spent an hour or more just slowly going through every thing. When I finished I had 15 items in my shopping cart. It did take 2 night to D/L it all. Tashar 59

I buy a $50 gift certificate and then five and dime it to death, in that way, I don't have to drag out the CC each time, and I can take my downloads in little pieces too, since I have just the 56K modem.

can't they just program it to remember stuff longer? yeah, cookie my cart! :) i don't mind having to log in again to go to checkout, but the cart itself should stick around.

I agree April! Some tweeking is in order!

I haven't encountered any time limits. But I will pass this on the Reachel. Lapis, why are you using exclamation points? Anton

cos we're excited platinum members! :D i wanna fill my cart over a few DAYS! then do one checkout on the weekend... so it would be cool if it can remember that long, and i only have to login when i try to check out. a few online stores do this :) cool, thanks. by the way, this problem may go away once we do our initial platinum rampage... and then go back to one item per shopping session in a few weeks.

:) It is fun to shop in bulk. Kinda like having everything stored on someone elses drive just waiting for you. Having the cart holding items that long could cause some serious problem inadvertently. Reachel will understand this issue more. Thanks again.

I use exclamation marks for style points!

I think the timeout is 30 minutes. I had to try 3 times to get my order in the basket, and even then, I had to make a separate trick. I did rush, too. I did a two window trick - right click on Add to Basket, then click Put in Basket (or whatever the verbiage), then when my order sceen came up in the second window, I'd close it and go back to the main window and right click on the next thing I wanted to order. Even with that system and knowing what I wanted, I kept running out of time! (Yes, I went a bit wild on the first day, but, guys, you should be helping me go deeper into debt, not slowing me down and giving me time to come to my senses.)

whbos ( ) posted Wed, 23 October 2002 at 10:32 PM

That's a good idea about the gift certificate. I didn't know they were available. I like the broken down packages too because even though I have a 56K modem and dialup, my connection speeds average between 24 and 26.4 kbps which is way too slow and DSL is not an option yet. The only problem I've had is that I get messages that a page has expired and have to refresh. This happens when just browsing pages even before selecting an item to purchase. Why would a page time out when just browsing?
