Subject: Crystal Ball: How to?

kalador ( ) posted Wed, 23 October 2002 at 5:01 PM ยท edited Tue, 21 January 2025 at 11:41 PM

I am trying to do a scene with a crystal ball, with a second scene showing in the crystal ball. Can anyone tell me how to do this?

The simplest way would be to render both scenes separately then comp 'em in Photoshop. Alternatively, set up the scene which will be in the ball, scale it down and place it all inside a transparent sphere (which you'd then use as your ball. Parent everything to the sphere so you can drag the whole lot around to any position you like, then create your "main" scene. I think. :)

Thanks Sam. I tried using the secondary scene as a texture for the crystal ball, but it never would show up.

kaladoer, I didn't say to use it as a texture, I meant to put the whole scene inside the ball, like this. P4PP, no postwork or compositing.
