Subject: What clothing do you want?

_dodger ( ) posted Wed, 23 October 2002 at 7:51 PM · edited Wed, 11 December 2024 at 8:00 PM

Specifically mostly for Mike, as I'm on a Mike clothing kick because so few other people are. I don't mean textures for existing clothing. I mean clothing articles? Some of the stuff I have in mind: Jedi-type robes Some slightly more accurate full-plate armour. Pieced Plate (AKA D&D's 'plate-mail') armour. Wizard robes (maybe those and the jedi robes should be one package) Bomber jacket Trenchcoat, duster, etc. Doublet A loincloth that actually looks hairy. Same style of 'caveman wrap' thingy Indian-style bone breastplate and headdress, etc. Zoot Suit Fireman's outfit Cop outfit BDUs WWI fatigues Civil war fatigues Toga Roman-style armour O-Yoroi (Full samurai lamellar armour, perhaps with morphing and multi-geometry faceplate) Spacesuit 50's style futuristic spacesuit Brom pants (those half-corset trousers on a lot of Brom paintings) Culottes (french revolution floppy trousers) Kilt Art Fag Baggies (80s -- I'm not being mean, I wore them with my Bauhaus shirt) Smelly Hippy Flares Powered Armour Jumpsuit/Flightsuit (not tight like a bodysuit) Nehru Jacket A cape that doesn't look like a slab of naugahyde Gauntlets Boots of all varieties Gimme some ideas here or tell me what trees to bark up!

Any and all... but ... "Indian-style bone breastplate and headdress, etc." I could use now and again and again. Breech cloth with leggins would be nice. Maybe the same for the MM Boy (hint hint) :) Niles I have several on your list , here is one more that I would like /Flightsuit (not tight like a bodysuit)

I really want more Mike stuff, though I'd like a matching set for Vicki, especially in the "reasonable coverage" department. (Band aids are for cuts, not clothing!) Armor that is practical and not too fancy would be very nice. (Detail can always be textured in. Overly done embellishments can not be textured out.) From your list: Jedi-type robes Some slightly more accurate full-plate armour. Pieced Plate (AKA D&D's 'plate-mail') armour. Japaname style clothing. (Picolo's outfit from Dragonball Z, for example.) Nehru jacket.

I would love to have some flowing Italian renaissance dresses and/or gowns. For example...

Vive Bene.  Spesso L'Amore.  Di Risata Molto.
Live Well.  Love Often.  Laugh Much.

Both for Mike and for Vicky.....some practical flannel robes, pj's and slippers for those blah days.

Gorodin ( ) posted Thu, 24 October 2002 at 12:54 AM

Accurate armor and a space suit would be great.

Hasserdous material suit?

_dodger ( ) posted Thu, 24 October 2002 at 5:58 AM

Okay, so Hazmat and Spacesuit and Flight Suit type things are definitely in demand. And some less silly lookin' armour. Those are all good ones because most of them I can actually sell without technically requiring Mike, even though I'd make them to fit. Something like a spacesuit or full-field-plate armour made to fit Mike would work well as a stand-alone figure, too -- because with the visor on either closed, you could not tell if there was a mike inside really well or not. Armour would need a certain amount of embellishment in the mesh, but yes, all the filigree work, ribbing textures, trefoils, and whatnot could and should be done with bumpmaps and texture maps. I'm still thinking of if it would be better to make the grille in the visor real or simlpy transmapping it -- the latter would allow for more flexibility but the 'thickness' of the metal would look hollow close-up since the material isn't solid through. Crescent, do you seriously want a Nehru jacket? I'd actually thrown that in as a joke. Maybe I should do a Hippy Mike set -- flares, pancho, nehru jacket, muttonchops/long moustachios/beard, long greazy hair and dredalocks options, hair wrap morphing prop, yarn beanie, armpit hair, sandals, fringed suede boots, Baja jumper, joint, cellophane with small bits of paper in it, skins, and bong props, giant floppy Dr. Seuss hat, etc L As I said, I'm mostly focusing on Mike right now with stuff, primarily because Vicki already has so much clothing, even if a lot of it is band-aids. You know, I do have a Biker Jacket for Mike that I've made fit Vicki OK with a little tweaking and mild scaling.

hey dodger thanks you make such good stuffs and you have so great ideas. my big wish is also a lot of clothes for mikel he is a poor man, nothing good stuff for wearing.

Crescent ( ) posted Thu, 24 October 2002 at 8:44 AM

Nehru jackets can make good military style or Japanime style tops with the right texture maps, so no, I'm not kidding. ;-)

rasputina ( ) posted Thu, 24 October 2002 at 9:59 AM

I would definitely love the art fag baggies.

Ghostofmacbeth ( ) posted Thu, 24 October 2002 at 12:39 PM

Well here are my picks. Robes for Jedi and Wizard WWI fatigues O-Yoroi (Full samurai lamellar armour, perhaps with morphing and multi-geometry faceplate) Spacesuit 50's style futuristic spacesuit Brom pants (those half-corset trousers on a lot of Brom paintings) Powered Armour Jumpsuit/Flightsuit (not tight like a bodysuit) A cape that doesn't look like a slab of naugahyde Gauntlets

spratman ( ) posted Thu, 24 October 2002 at 3:30 PM

been waiting for the O-Yoroi (Full samurai lamellar armour, perhaps with morphing and multi-geometry faceplate) I've seen one or two but never been happy with 'em. Here's my list Realistic space suit (NASA style not Lost in Space) hmmm well that was short list, I guess I don't use Mike that often LOL

Rhiannon ( ) posted Thu, 24 October 2002 at 5:53 PM

Thought I posted a reply to this, but it doesn't seem to be around. :-) Anyway, I'm really happy to see someone is on a kick to create some more things for Mike. Some things I've been wanting include some authentic, iron-age Celtic items ... tunics, breeches, cloaks ... along with the torcs, brooches, and highly decorative materials they are described as wearing ... for Mike and for Vicky as well. I like all your ideas in your list, especially the trenchcoat, bomber jacket, robes, and armor. Thanks, Rhi

_dodger ( ) posted Thu, 24 October 2002 at 9:22 PM

Okay, the tally so far looks like Mike clothes in the lead are: Jedi/Wizard Robes Full Plate Armour Piece Plate Aremour Spacesuit Followed up by: O-Yoroi Jumpsuit/Flightsuit And trailed by: Bomber Jacket Trenchcoat Indian Garb WWI Fatigues 50's Pulp Spacesuit Hazmat Brom Trousers Art Fag Baggies Nehru Jacket Non-Naugahyde Cape Gauntlets With no 'ayes' for the other stuff. Cool, that gives me some direction.

AprilYSH ( ) posted Fri, 25 October 2002 at 12:05 AM

we have those top 4 things already dodger, or meshes that "will do"... they are popular and will keep getting requested, but if you truly want to work on originals, go further down your list. and let me put a lonely vote in for brom pants/corsets and zoot suit! :)

[ Store | Freebies | Profile ]

a sweet disorder in the dress kindles in clothes a wantoness,
do more bewitch me than when art is too precise in every part

_dodger ( ) posted Fri, 25 October 2002 at 2:45 AM

I do have to go with the votes, April. One of the things I should point out -- if you refer to my original post, you can see that I abbreviated a bit, especially on the armour. There's more to it than that. See, as far as I have found, no one has done a suit of actual armour for Mike. I've seen loads of 'fantasy armour', some of which looks pretty, but all of which has all the historical accuracy of the Trojan Cavalry. I haven't seen a real proper NASA spacesuit anywhere, and I really disagree with the concept of meshes that 'will do' -- DAZ already had both an adventurer outfit and a pumpkin-head Mike costume -- that hasn't made people not want my Fighting Man Mike nor my Scarecrow (especially the latter). Adding in your votes, that puts the Brom trousers up in the second set. I'm seeing what I can do about getting it to be actually Brom trousers B^)

FishNose ( ) posted Fri, 25 October 2002 at 1:38 PM

I'm with: Jumpsuit Flight Suit Spacesuits Cyber style/Anime style But most of all: Really rough MadMax2 post-apocalyptic style clothing :] Fish

Orio ( ) posted Fri, 25 October 2002 at 8:19 PM

Toga! And Roman armour. :-)

Cookienose ( ) posted Sun, 27 October 2002 at 4:53 PM

This thread has probably been long dead, but thought I'ld through in my $2.15 - I would love realistic looking practical armor for Mike and Vicky, especially realistic brigadine armor. Thanks for asking for our input!
