Subject: LHS Power Pack question

headgamer ( ) posted Sat, 01 April 2000 at 8:08 AM ยท edited Thu, 13 February 2025 at 2:34 AM

The documentation for the LHS power pack I just purchased says to unzip into the carrara directory, which I started. However, I had already installed LHS's free extensions/shaders, and now the power pack asks if I want to replace some of those files (specifically LHS.MCX and LHS.DTA). Is this safe to do, or in doing so will I lose some of the free extensions? Advice apppreciated. headgamer

Another question: Where the heck do I find the extensions? I have found the shader stuff in the texture room, but what about volumentric clouds, noise tweener and deformer, and morph? I can't seem to find these things in Carrara anywhere. When I switched over to the modelling room it asked for my serial number and accepted it, but I still don't see these anywhere. What am I missing? headgamer

HG - I personaly havent used the extensions. Im not sure how many forum members do either. Is there a "Contact" clicker on developers web site? If you dont get a response here you might try contacting them directly. Just a thought. Best regards, Clint

headgamer, LHS stuff is pretty cool and this is how you get to it. There should be a new button on your toolbar that looks like clouds with the letters LHS. That's your volumetric clouds. The Noise deformer and morpher are on your Modifiers tab. Just select an object and click on the gear in the properties panel. The Noise tweener is with the rest of the tweeners. Drop an object on the screen move the time line and then move your object so you have a new keyframe. Click between the two keyframes and it will bring up the tweener info on the properties panel. Click on the name of the tweener to select the Noise tweener. Good Luck, Eric Winemiller Digital Carvers Guild Freeware and commercial 3D extensions http://digitalcarversguild.com

Eric, Sorry, but I don't see where you see all this. Yes, I have the shaders, and yes, I have the volumetric clouds button. But there are no "morph" and/or "noise" deformers in my modifiers tab. Where the heck are they? I would think they would have automatically listed them in there. Maybe they need to be manually added like the shaders did, but I don't see them listed in any of the Carrara directories or subdirectories. This is pretty frustrating when you pay for something and can't find half of what you paid for. I would have thought the documentation would have been a little more thorough... Any further help would be appreciated. Frustrated, headgamer

Hmm, I didn't run into the same problem. Drop an email to Brian. He lists this email address on the contact us link webmaster@losthorizonsoftware.com. He's a friendly helpful guy. Good Luck, Eric Winemiller Digital Carvers Guild Freeware and commercial 3D extensions http://digitalcarversguild.com

I usually check this board every day, but I was really busy last week. Thanks for covering for me Eric! Shawn, I am thinking about writing up a complete tutorial on using the morph targets, as I've had a couple of questions about them. Brian P. Retford www.losthorizonsoftware.com

Brian, A tutorial would be most excellent! And thanks for the help via email too! HG.... P.S. A tutorial... that reminds me, I promised someone here I'd write a tutorial on my stained glass window in my last scene... better get to that I guess... 8^)
