Redoing my earlier test with reflections and shadows sorted out : Now also with SR2 Beta installed Firefly production 640x480 - raytracing on Raytraced shadows This render with dynamic hair took just under 6 mins P4 2.8GHz 1Gig DDR Ram Win XP home

yes, it got much faster,specially the strandbased hair was a real killer,but now it working fine even with raytrayced shadows. Try to set the reflectionvalue from default 1.0 to 1.2 , the reflections look better in my opinion.

This is my newest "girl in a mirror" square as a mirror with "tiled texture" from the matroom. second square as background. strandbased hair from RuntimeDNA,all rendered with no shadows,at 600 x 600. rendertime about 3 min( Athlon xp 2000)

Shadows Kill. I did a test render: 14 P4 figs 43 lights, 12 shadow-casting somewhat 'polished' floor, only slightly reflective, not a mirror. Dual AMD 1.4G 1G RAM Took an hour to process the shadows and only 9 minutes to complete. Ray-tracing, shadows set, all the rest at default RAM usage stayed within the physical limits, so no disc-flogging.
