I downloaded this free set of objects from the Freebee's section, now in the zip file are the .obj files and the same named files but with an smg extention. what does that extention mean and is it for Bryce?

Can't find it in my Bryce stuff anywhere. Couldn't find the file extension online. Doesn't have anything to do with Bryce as far as I know

Special Mobile Group? :-) Actually, the only thing I found was something about sound Masking Generator. Or bits from OpenVMS, but I don't think they are relevant. And something inside a .ps file. Not even the pages dedicated to the definitions of file formats have .smg. Have you tried opening it in a text editor?

Oops: http://www.dar.csiro.au/ladm/ladmgis.html mentions file coming with "smog" option. Maybe it's a particle file for a high-end program.

Its the native file format for Shapemagic, an inexpensive modeling program available in the marketplace
