Hi, I'd appreciate it if someone could remind me of the name of that 3D file translation software. Thanks Mike

3d explorer?

polytrans?

My MAKEOBJ can translate between .OBJ and .3DS and .DXF (but it casn't read .3DS texture-mapping) My GETLWTEX can translate from Lightwave to .OBJ .

Thans for the help guys. Crossroads was what I was thinking of. Polytrans is way too expensive for a simple utility. Looks nice though. Anthony, I'll look for your stuff. Lwo to Obj sounds cool. Hey Anthony, (OT) I rekon you should send Diver magazine a monthly report on where that sub of yours will be operating the following month! I'd hate to end up inside the mangler! LOL. Thanks again Mike

Try 3DWin - I've found it's better than crossroads. There's a free version and a newer fairly inexpensive version. I've been using the free version for some time to do all my conversions.

allen9, sounds good, do you have a link for it?

I use Bryce 5 for file conversions. Bryce 4 had some trouble with .3ds exporting for some.

I've just logged on for the first time in months, looking for advice on translating 3DS files for use in Poser4. I think you've answered the problem Allen 9. FYI www.deespona.com have a selection of freebie models for download some look quite nice.
