Subject: Anyone else having problems posting?

Lapis ( ) posted Tue, 29 October 2002 at 2:33 PM · edited Thu, 26 December 2024 at 2:01 PM

I've noticed lately that sometimes it takes several trys at posting a message. This phenomenon has been occurring for the last couple of days. Anyone else having problems?

dialyn ( ) posted Tue, 29 October 2002 at 2:47 PM

I think nearly everyone is having that problem. I'm having problems posting comments in the galleries too. I keep backing up and trying again...seems to work the second time. Renderosity is having major server hiccups. This morning, I couldn't access Renderosity at all for over an hour.

I think maybe they have reduced the time-out setting, try typeing faster! ;-)

Lapis ( ) posted Tue, 29 October 2002 at 2:54 PM

My two little fingers will only go so fast.

mabfairyqueen ( ) posted Tue, 29 October 2002 at 3:02 PM

I've been having problems too and had problems posting my latest image too.

pdxjims ( ) posted Tue, 29 October 2002 at 3:03 PM

Second Try. Its gotten to the point that on every post, before I try posting, I copy it so I don't have to retype it two or three times. I tend to be a little wordy, so if its a time out problem, I wish they'd give us more time.

SamTherapy ( ) posted Tue, 29 October 2002 at 3:10 PM

Yep. A few times I've been sent to the front page of the forums, and it's happened several times in the galleries.

test (sorry)

xoconostle ( ) posted Tue, 29 October 2002 at 3:13 PM

OK, so a post that takes two seconds to write works, but the lengthy tutorial on Dragon Folk I've written three times now is lost. Urgh.

Tomsde ( ) posted Tue, 29 October 2002 at 3:23 PM

I've had problems too, I've been bumped to other areas of the web site or had to log in again.

Stormrage ( ) posted Tue, 29 October 2002 at 3:30 PM

I think it has to do with cookies timing out or sessions timing out prematurely

Lapis ( ) posted Tue, 29 October 2002 at 3:36 PM

I had my cookies time out prematurely once....noone would even eat them. (cut and paste, cut and paste, cut an paste, if I drum it into my head I stand a chance of remembering, cut and paste............)

Marque ( ) posted Tue, 29 October 2002 at 3:36 PM

If you have something that is taking a while to write...like the tutorial, I would do it in notepad and copy and paste it in. Marque

xoconostle ( ) posted Tue, 29 October 2002 at 4:03 PM

Thanks for the suggestion, Marque! Great idea. I might also try a link to a free website. "Tutorial" might be too strong of a word. I just wanted to help the folks who didn't seem to understand the product.

MadYuri ( ) posted Tue, 29 October 2002 at 4:39 PM

Some of my messages disappered even after I got them posted. Yesterday they were in a thread, today they are gone. Something is eating forum posts. 80

Hiram ( ) posted Tue, 29 October 2002 at 5:03 PM

Me too.

Hiram ( ) posted Tue, 29 October 2002 at 5:05 PM

Wow. I had it happen on the above post. This sucks. If they did intentionally reduce the time-out setting they need to change it back. Why can't they make a useful improvment, like a REAL search engine? (ctrl+C)

volfin ( ) posted Tue, 29 October 2002 at 5:47 PM

I just composed a message on another thread, and when I hit the post reply button, it jumped me to the listing of forums page. I only took less than 30 seconds typing. If that is their timeout length, It is WAY too short.

Larry F ( ) posted Tue, 29 October 2002 at 5:55 PM

? ? ? I feel like I'm crying in the wilderness here. Can you hear me now?

Larry F ( ) posted Tue, 29 October 2002 at 5:57 PM

Okay, it took. Before I re-write it, did anybody see my post about my problems with a "Blue Screen" in ProPack? Was posted as a new message, but it and two other attempts in this thread did not showup before the one at 17:55 (above). Larry F

Jaqui ( ) posted Tue, 29 October 2002 at 5:58 PM

nope Laarry F we can't, try typing louder. ~wink~

...After SEVERAL attempts to post questions about another probem I'm having - must be my week, I guess - I have found that, with regards to this current thread's topic, it seems that if you "Preview Post" before actually "Creating Post", it works. At least it did for me, as I said after several attempts.

Can anyoen asnwer my questions about the "Blue Screen" that I finally managed to post?

Thanks in advance.

Incendently, at least with Netscape 4.7, if you get kicked out to the front forum page, hit BACK, copy your message, hit BACK again (which gets you to the message list page), enter into message again, paste your reply at the bottom and send it. Works for me!

volfin ( ) posted Tue, 29 October 2002 at 9:24 PM

Good tip Jim, but isn't the point that you shouldn't have to do all of that? Like, my gawd, like couldn't they fix the forum or somthin'? *8-)

chohole ( ) posted Wed, 30 October 2002 at 1:26 AM

I had a really weird one on Sunday. UK has changed our time (daylight saving thingy) and apparently it threw a wobbly and my post was posted before the one I was answering. If I had realised what had happened Could have had real fun posting answers before the questions were asked.

Hey! I edit my posts in either a text editor or HTML as needed ... NOT int he browser. Then I hit "refresh" to reload the thread, paste it in and it always works because the cookie is fresh. Took a while to figure it out, but now I don't drop em.

pete_ ( ) posted Wed, 30 October 2002 at 8:10 AM

Has been real bad...but at least we know it's because they are working on some stuff. I find it better today...no time out's so far...;-)
