You need to set some between crosssections. So, 1 would be your square. 2 would be another square moved to where you want the transition to start to a circle. 3 would be a circle that was rotated so the 4 vertices of the circle lined up with the 4 corners of the square. Make sure your set to view the vertice numbers, and make sure they line up with each other numberwise. Section 4 would be another circle moved to where you want the transition to start to a fluted circle. 5 would be a fluted circle that you have added vertices to for the fluting of the main portion of the column. 6 would be a duplicate of 5, moved to where you want the fluting to end. 7,8 and 9 would be the reverse of 3, 2 and 1 to complete the column. Hope this helps.

Hi all, I want to create a building column, but can't get the hang of changing the section shapes. I started with a square shape extruded to a given length. I then created multiple cross sections. I want section 1 to be square. 2 & 3 to be a circle, then between 4&5 would be the circle with the groves, etc. I read everything I can get my hands on (Carrara 1 & 2) manuals, Carrara Bible & Carrara for Dummies) and I still can't figure out how to change the #2 & 3 square sections to circles. I am trying to create something like the column shown on page 163 in the C2 manual. Is there any kind of tutorial out there that covers changing shapes on individual cross sections? Thanks, MarkV
