Here's a new render of the city scene I posted earlier. Many thanks to HG, Mark and SMquinn for lots of great ideas. Suggestions, as always, welcome and solicited. - Chip

Great image, the sidewalk and the garbage are outstanding. I think I have my monitor set a little dark, is the female rising out of the smoke of the cigarette? bob

Thanks for the compliments.... Well, she's not really supposed to be rising out of the smoke, but I had hoped she would appear to be kind of a dream / genie kind of image; she's actually a mannequin in the store window. As for your monitor being set dark, it might be, but the image is still a little too dark. I've built it on a laptop where it's bright as all get-out, but on a CRT display it's a little too dark, still. I need to brighten it up a bit, still....

Looking great! I could tell it was a mannequin, though the image is still a little bit too dark, I think. Also, the brick wall and the sidewalk slabs, though they do look dilapidated, look very clean. Is this what you intended? I know dirt and grime are hard to add, but it would contribute alot to realism. Also, the poster seems like it is supposed to be a remnant from a long time ago, but it looks like it was put up a couple of days ago? Brian Retford Carrara Extensions www.losthorizonsoftware.com

You're right about the clean factor; I need to dirty them up.... As for the poster, I was kind of intentionally going for a retro, but new look. That's, I hope, part of the irony of the image. Everything old is new again, including homelessness and despair. Guess it doesn't quite come through, though.... I should probably weather the poster, then, too.... Thanks for the comments! - Chip
