Subject: October Challenge

ijack999 ( ) posted Thu, 03 October 2002 at 3:56 PM · edited Wed, 13 November 2024 at 11:16 PM

Theme: Scary Monsters and Super Creeps.
(couldn't help myself, Halloween is my favorite holiday)

This can include, ghouls, goblins, vampires, warewolves, politicians, haunted houses, graveyards, sci-fi monsters and scenes, alians and anything else scary or creepy you can think up.

Constraints: None (unless, of course, they're on the monster/victim)

Can be rendered in your medium of choice.

P.S. Thanks all of you who voted for me. I'm flattered to be chosen amongst so many great artists.

Hmmm scary monsters eh? My latest picture seems to fit this bill a bit, think I'll post it on here, sorry, it's a bit graphic but I figured I could get away with it what with the theme and Halloween being almost upon us and that.

What scares you?

phobia : A persistent, abnormal, and irrational fear of a specific thing or situation that compels one to avoid it, despite the awareness and reassurance that it is not dangerous

Some people find the concept of aliens horrifying; the "Fear of the Unknown" is one of the strongest fears of mankind. What do you think?

From the movie 'Broadcast news': "What do you think the devil's going to look like if he's around? Come on, no one's going to be taken in by a guy with a long red pointy tail! Come on, what's he going to sound like? 'Aaaarrrgh!?' No! He'll be attractive, he'll be nice and helpful, he'll get a job where he influences a great God-fearing nation, he'll never do an evil thing, he'll never deliberately hurt a living thing! He'll just bit by little bit, lower our standards where they're important. Just a tiny little bit. Just coast along, flash over substance. Just a tiny little bit. "And he'll get all the great women."

My computers been shipped over to New Zealand as I'm emigrating which means the only computer access I've got is at work so seeing as it's Friday I'd better cast my vote now. Some really cool images in this months challenge but I think my favourite one is Hirams "Daddy? Are you down there" So that gets my vote.....

chimerauk ( ) posted Fri, 01 November 2002 at 7:40 AM

......Although Bill Gates is a close second!

RimRunner ( ) posted Fri, 01 November 2002 at 6:20 PM

I'd have to agree that Bill is pretty scarry, but I'm going to cast my vote for "Daddy? 'you down there" as well. :)

The doctor says I have way too much blood in my caffeine system.

Baztd ( ) posted Fri, 01 November 2002 at 6:29 PM

sorry for not posting a 'proper' image this month ... been busy. (but i think Bill and his plans are pretty scary!) i think 'Daddy' sums up most peoples fears very nicely. close second is 'Freddy the K' Fred Kruger, by Pipermaru819. very nicely done m8. my hat is off and my head is lowered.

ijack999 ( ) posted Fri, 01 November 2002 at 9:08 PM

Yep, I'll have to go with Hirams 'Daddy" as well. Very, very creapy. I think Baztd should get an honorable mention for posting the creapiest thing in 'real life' though.

Hiram ( ) posted Sat, 02 November 2002 at 8:08 AM

Hmmmmm... I don't know, that's definitely the scariest Apple I've ever seen. What was it that Baztd posted? Let's go look... AAAAAaaaaaaauuuuggghghhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!

KingHeroical ( ) posted Mon, 04 November 2002 at 2:16 AM

I gotta go with Gusman's carny. Carnies freek me out... ...small hands.

Hiram ( ) posted Mon, 04 November 2002 at 5:19 PM

...smell like cabbage.

chimerauk ( ) posted Tue, 05 November 2002 at 3:38 AM

I wanna change my vote. I've just experienced the horror that is WINXP. Bill you're more evil than I could have ever imagined........ (P.S. for entertainment purposes only, original vote still stands)

Baztd ( ) posted Tue, 05 November 2002 at 5:18 AM

Robwolf ( ) posted Tue, 05 November 2002 at 5:23 PM

gotta love Mr. Bill. But my horror is that of windows ME. PLEASE SAVE ME!

Baztd ( ) posted Tue, 05 November 2002 at 6:14 PM

Micro$oft make fantastic hardware ... i have the MS ergonomic (curved) keyboard, the MS Sidewinder Force Feedback joystick and the MS Intellimouse Explorer (optical) mouse. cant complain about any of them. infact i would recomend them to anyone! but the software ... i can say, with my hand on my heart, that 80% of my 'Blue Screen of Death's' have been with MS software (MS Combat Flight Sim .. Starlancer .. Direct bloody X (should be called Direct $#!T!!) .. the list goes on) and MS drivers conflicting with other MS software and drivers. and thanks to Mr. (Dollar) Bill Gate$ we seem to be stuck with dirty windows. what a pane (pun intended)

RimRunner ( ) posted Tue, 05 November 2002 at 10:23 PM

Well... it looks like the voting has calmed down... so lets tally up the votes here... Looks like Hiram takes it with "Daddy, you down there?" With the real-life horror of Seattle's own Billy Boy getting a (less than) Honorable mention. ;) Hiram, if you would be so kind as to start a new thread for Novembers Challenge. :) Topic is your choice.
