I know it's probably been discussed before....Has anyone noticed that a particuler "artist" has several images in the Hot 20? There's nothing special about these renders, in fact they're all rather plain and boring - same character used in each one, dull background, simple pose - i guess i just don't see it. I know people solicit votes because i've had someone ask me to vote for them - this is someone whose work is good and has often had several pics in the Hot 20. Just find this interesting i guess....

Either nepotism or the pairs figure skating judges are on the loose in the virtual halls at Renderosity. Some of the pics there are decent though and one in particular stands out leaps and bound above the rest.

Yanno, Pam, I wondered about that too... I've been in the HOT20 once and I didn't solicit. I believe in pure merit. The ones who deserve to be there are not because others do solicit votes. It is a trend in the Hot20.

Can't we all just get along ? I too feel that there are people that cheat their way into the H20. There are some images that make me wonder - How did that get there ? But then some that make me wonder - How come that DIDN'T get in there ? And I agree - a lot of what gets in the Hot20 w/high votes kinda makes me wonder cause the esteemed artists don't get there. Some people do cheat. That is a fact. People have asked me to vote for them and I don't because the artists that make it to the Hot20 should be the 1s who deserve it. Who worked hard to make their work DIFFERENT and unique and stand out from others. And I will admit there are some images there that I don't feel should be there, but one man's trash is another man's treasure... I however will not badger people to vote for me because a)I'd feel bad wondering hey - If they didnt vote for me, would it still be there ? And b)Everyone should be there by their own merit and c)If I have to ASK for them to vote, then they didnt think it was good enough to be there anyway..:)

well, me personally, would never solicit votes because to be quite frank none of mine merit the top 20. No self pity here, just the plain truth. LOL

Oi .. well I guess I sit here with egg on my face blush I was arguing in the OT forum that in general I did not really believe that folks would go to such lengths to get into the top 20 .. that people that were complaining about the top 20 being fixed were overstating.. me red. I still do not understand why anyone would invest that kind of effort, unless they were making a statement for a specific purpose.. but the proof is right in front of me I guess ;-(.. mind I still am not convinced anyone did it on purpose . I think sometimes folks just get a little over excited about their work .. especially new folks and they tell friends and so on about it .. those friends wanting to support the person then go and vote. Laurie who is hanging on to her rose colored glasses as long as possible ;-)

Laurie, wipe the egg off, you absolutely deserve to be there. The lengths that people will go to are just sad, though... Soliciting votes, creating clone accounts, disabling comments in the hopes that someone will vote and they'll end up there... Sad, sad, sad. It's funny though - the person in question has a squad of 4 or 5 people who comment on every image, and have no gallery, store, or anything. Things that make you go hmmm...

And it's not just the poser hot 20. Have a look at a few of the other ones.

Well Pam, I'd say to just leave it alone. "The person in question" seems to honestly feel she has the talent to be there. I beg to differ. I really want to speak to these "voters" and find out if they are also voting for the people who rightly so belong there. Nothing you can say will change it really. The mods dont seem to what to do anything about it and the hot 20 system is probably not going to change. I say we all pitch in and start voting for what we want more often. She only gets in by about 20 votes anyway. Is there an archive of past hot 20 images. Alot of people claim to have been in the hot 20 in the past but I'd like to see. Mostly to compare what used to get in there to whats sliding through now.

Shameless plug Vote for me...pleaseeeeeeeee...I long to see just 10 of my artworks in the Hot20...its what I live for...after the 10th...I'll know I'm good....NOT!!!!!... There are many artists I'd love to see in the Hot20...Laurie, Luci, Toxic, Giana, Sophia, Stormi, and others I just look at in awe and say "I wannabe like them" or "that's da bomb-azz image"...because when they are in the Hot20, it allows you to pick up tips and wonder how they did certain things. To all those who deserve to be in the Hot20...your talent is beyond anything I've seen...and those who get in there with this HELP of others...Shame, shame, shame... That's the whole thing I think ................. to change it we must vote. Laurie, when I saw yours I just sat in awe.......... it is absolutley stunning and very deserving of the spot it is in.

This particular complaint is a double edged sword. Those who just want to see justice are painted as caring too much about the Hot 20 and people who don't care about it accuse others of wanting "attention".

Regardless of your opinion of the Hot 20, when someone appears to fix votes, ask for votes, whatever the case and those images, while not bad in themselves, are a giant leap from the incredible images like Lauries, Rio etc. then something has to be said. Especially when every single image posted manages to make it and each look similar and simple.

Attention getter or award section: either way it should be fair. And people who solicit votes on such a grand scale do need to be called to the carpet for it.
Today I looked at the Hot 20 and was very happy to see many new and wonderful images that weren't there yesterday for lack of space.

So for all the protesting by a particular individual that this wasn't what was going on i you have to ask yourself why the top 20 changed overnight... here i go getting myself in trouble again...

I would rather someone vote for me because they truely think an image belonged. Not because I asked them to. Where's the honor in that? This is the type of thing that renders the Hot 20 useless.

What about those that solicit votes and then have their thugs spam and troll someone's galleries? Same Unethical standards. Condoning cheating like that simply gives them licence to do whatever they feel is necessay to maintain their little clique in control. How can you fight someone that has over 100 people willing to vote, create voting accounts and trash anyone else that is a threat? Hmm?

I have no one even remotely considered thugs, otherwise my art WOULD have been in the top 20, 7 and 8 at a time. How about the copyright violation she claims is false? have YOU ever known Vallejo or Bell to make an exception to their images being used? She claims to have permission. I've never seen that permission. If she is innocent of copyright violation, POSTING that serial rights contract would clear that up in a hurry, but she has never offered to do that.
