Although some of this was once done on another thread, I thought it would be fun to show all the Poser men together for comparisons sake. I must say I'm still biased, Micheal 2 still looks the best to me. What do you guys think? Someone might also find it fun to do this with the Poser Women.

lol, you shoud've done it with in the famous darwin poses, you know, strating with an ape crouching and then walking towards the modern man. in that case p5 man would be a step backward...

Tomsde ( ) posted Sun, 03 November 2002 at 3:26 PM

The P5 man is to Micheal what the Neanderthal is to the Cromagnum man I think.

Although I don't like the P5 figures, I will admit they are a little more realistically proportioned than the P4 Dork & Posette. For beauty as well as realism, though, I will take the millenium folks any day.

Don is a pretty good figure and mmmmuch better than dork. But Judy looks very unatural... Heck posette looks more human than her and that ain't good. Judy's body is fine, but that face just takes hours to get looking good. -_^ I'm finally gonna fork out for the Mill figures now. I'm getting back into using poser enough that it's worth the $$$ (especially if I get the Platinum membership at Daz.)

I think some folks are selling the P5 figures a bit short. To get the most out of them, you have to go to the face room and work with them there.

TygerCub ( ) posted Tue, 05 November 2002 at 5:14 AM

The face room is fantastic for working with Judy, but it sure would have been nice if she started out looking a little more natural.

zechs ( ) posted Tue, 05 November 2002 at 12:56 PM

Yeah the face room is fine. I do like the random face feature because it can help inspire you and give you a good starting point for radically different faces. since I could care less about working from photos I'd probably have preferred to just have all the shaping morphs that are in the face room accessible from the pose room. The face room can actually cause some annoying problems. Like changing the size of the head. Also for some reason I STILL cannot figure out how to spawn a skullcap prop from a face room morphed head. When I spawn the prop the head snaps back to original shape and size and the new prop is based off that so UTTERLY USELESS! (Unless I wanna spend a month reshaping it with magnets.)

TygerCub ( ) posted Tue, 05 November 2002 at 5:01 PM

If you want to keep the shape of a face, export an object from the entire head first, then import the .obj and grab the scull cap off of that.

Tomsde ( ) posted Tue, 05 November 2002 at 9:14 PM

I guesss I'm a traditionist. I liked it better when all the face morphs were there with the parameter dials, no putty required. I think the face room is a great concept for those who want to create strange beings or cartoony morphs, in the past you had to export the head to a 3rd party program to do those best--but I like to do things on the fly so having to go to another room just to get a basic face shape is annoying to me. It makes me less likely to use Don and Judy unless I'm mapping my own photos to them, than I am just to grab Micheal or Stephanie and dial them to my heart's content. I don't mean to be a downer about P5, it's just it's learning curve and myriad bugs have made me wish I'd waited till more patches were released before I bought it. Perhaps I'll change my mind if I start seeing some great Don and Judy art work here, but most of what I've seen lately have been Micheal and Victoria. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I was looking at the P5 Manuel (including the box) cover today and I'm almost positive the models on it are Micheal and Stephanie! Don and Judy don't even make an appearance of their own box, how sad for them.

zechs ( ) posted Tue, 05 November 2002 at 9:58 PM

I am really glad that they didn't put that freaky alien Hybrid Judy on the box! Every time I see that banner add with those bulbous eyes glaring at me I get a little chill down my spine.... crrreeepy :) TygerCub: Do you mean re-import the head as a prop or a morph target? I tried it as a morph target but the same thing happened... but if i do it as a prop.... hmmmm. I bet that will work! I'll try that in the morning. thanks for the idea. (If it works :p)
