MadYuri ( ) posted Tue, 05 November 2002 at 5:52 PM

The holdup is the Poser5 WINDOWS version, or at least the freakin bugs in it.

Give it a year

I think it's with the missing 18 minutes of the Nixon tapes...

Poser 5 for Mac... is the war!!!!!!!

Patricia ( ) posted Tue, 05 November 2002 at 6:54 PM

Chill. More time=less bugs. I hope.

If you go to the Curious Labs site and click on the "more info" button - it takes you to a page with this caption "Poser 5 for Macintosh?" and click on that takes you to this: "We are working on and plan to release a Macintosh version of Poser 5 in the future. Apple has introduced entirely new engineering standards, which we need to support, but require a larger workload and a longer release cycle compared to previous versions of Poser for Mac. We hope you understand and thank you for your patience. We will be announcing details on system requirements, pricing and dates when we have more solid information. Thank you for your interest in Curious Labs products!" At least they still plan to release a Mac version, but it sounds like it is going to be awhile.

Maybe they're waiting for Apple to go bankrupt so they don't have to write an OSX version. sick.gif

The longer I wait, the less interested I become (life is like that). The only thing I truly envy about P5 is dynamic hair--the rest I either don't need or can do in P4.

Bobasaur ( ) posted Tue, 05 November 2002 at 11:57 PM

I could do the hair and dynamic cloth in Lightwave. However, I've seen tremendous potential in the Face Room (Pokeydots!!!!) and it looks like there may be more flexibility with body types. I'm excited about that. The Windows bugs won't keep me from buying it. We're on a completely different platform so we'll have our own things to work out. However I will wait till I get my current project done. That would be the only hold up. Oh yes, and finances.

And the Linux version ????????????

Stupidity also evolves!

TheWingedOne ( ) posted Wed, 06 November 2002 at 2:49 AM

The only reason for me to get Poser 5 for Mac is the fact that I won't have to boot my G4 from my 9.2.1 partition every time I use Poser. That's the only reason! The face room is a nice feature, but as long it doesn't support DAZ's Millenium figures it's useless to me. And the hair thingie...well...I think one can get much better results using postproduction methods... :) Just my two cents... Phil

You Mac users should be happy- all of us PC users are being beta-testers for you! By the time CL gets around to developing a Mac version of P5, all the core features will actually be working!

What's a good OSX native word processor? Need something that will import/export MS Word documents.

Bobasaur ( ) posted Wed, 06 November 2002 at 6:56 PM

MS Office X includes a good OS X native word processor that will import/export MS Word documents.

"Maybe they're waiting for Apple to go bankrupt so they don't have to write an OSX version. " If so, they will have a long wait. Since 1997, there have been 10 reports written by so-called "experts" in the financial and PC world saying that Apple's demise is just around the corner. Five years later, Apple is still standing and one of the most profitable compter hardware companies around despite this recession.

jerr3d ( ) posted Thu, 07 November 2002 at 11:39 AM

I have been using the Mac Poser4 (not PPP) for years. It is a rock solid app. It maybe crashes once every 6 months. Maybe. If I can get a Mac Poser5 version this stable then the wait would have been worth it!
