Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Nov 14 12:36 pm)
If you go to the Curious Labs site and click on the "more info" button - it takes you to a page with this caption "Poser 5 for Macintosh?" and click on that takes you to this: "We are working on and plan to release a Macintosh version of Poser 5 in the future. Apple has introduced entirely new engineering standards, which we need to support, but require a larger workload and a longer release cycle compared to previous versions of Poser for Mac. We hope you understand and thank you for your patience. We will be announcing details on system requirements, pricing and dates when we have more solid information. Thank you for your interest in Curious Labs products!" At least they still plan to release a Mac version, but it sounds like it is going to be awhile.
I could do the hair and dynamic cloth in Lightwave. However, I've seen tremendous potential in the Face Room (Pokeydots!!!!) and it looks like there may be more flexibility with body types. I'm excited about that. The Windows bugs won't keep me from buying it. We're on a completely different platform so we'll have our own things to work out. However I will wait till I get my current project done. That would be the only hold up. Oh yes, and finances.

The only reason for me to get Poser 5 for Mac is the fact that I won't have to boot my G4 from my 9.2.1 partition every time I use Poser. That's the only reason! The face room is a nice feature, but as long it doesn't support DAZ's Millenium figures it's useless to me. And the hair thingie...well...I think one can get much better results using postproduction methods... :) Just my two cents... Phil
MS Office X includes a good OS X native word processor that will import/export MS Word documents.

"Maybe they're waiting for Apple to go bankrupt so they don't have to write an OSX version. " If so, they will have a long wait. Since 1997, there have been 10 reports written by so-called "experts" in the financial and PC world saying that Apple's demise is just around the corner. Five years later, Apple is still standing and one of the most profitable compter hardware companies around despite this recession.
