Vue F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Oct 26 8:50 am)
Sadly, now at the eve of my 33rd birthday, i do find that sleep and food are critical for my full functioning, so I doubt that my Vue development will be as fast as I would like! :) Thanks for the welcome! :)

Welcome. Yeah, we Mac users do have some specific things. Some of us more, some not so many. One of the major ones (i think) is: DO NOT KEEP TEXTURES IN SUBFOLDERS! KEEP THEM IN VUE/BITMAPS! Otherwise Vue will always ask again where they are. And if you are using Poser, it is even more important. DO NOT KEEP TEXTURES IN SUBFOLDERS! Ask TheWingedOne for that. He knows :)) Lets hear if you do run into problems. We will find a solution - maybe. Walther Ah, another one. VUE ON MAC IS NOT ABLE TO READ VUE-FILES OLDER THAN VERSION 4. This will cut you off from a lot of stuff available on different free stuff urls. Ask if you need something. Maybe someone has converted this things already.
One day your ship comes in - but you're at the airport.
Hi Adam!! Great to see you here :) Now you will see just how wonderfully well that tree of yours works in Vue:) I'm also a Bryce user........the differences in the two interfaces does take a bit of adjustment, but Vue is very user friendly....more so than Bryce in my opinion. I go back and forth between the two, using Vue when I work with any nature scene. I think you get a more "natural look" with Vue. You should definitely notice the difference in render time.....Vue is much faster (at least it is on my PC!). Enjoy! And welcome to the forum.
Welcome, Kromekat! I love your textures....you'll find they work wonderfully in Vue! I found Vue so much easier to learn than when I first started in Bryce....Bryce had me staring at the interface in total confusion for weeks...
Hi Adam, glad to see you made it to get Vue. :) As wabe already sai it's exremely important that you don't use subfolders while using Poser figures. Vue can't find the textures if they're located in subfolders like it's usually teh case in Poser. I renamed my poser textures folder into something like "textures-poser" and created a new one called "textures". This folder is used for all project related textures I'd like to use in Vue. I have to admit it's not the way E-on told us Mac users, but it works. And btw. it's way much easier than getting Poser models into Bryce. :) I know what I'm talking about.... So again a very warm welcome and have a good time with your new proggie. :))) Phil

Hi Kromekat. I am delighted that you will be diving into Vue knowing how talented you are in Bryce. I am very much looking forward to seeing your future work. This is certainly the most helpful and friendly forum I have ever encountered. Good luck!! Peter C. P.S Did you ever post a tutorial on how to use lattice maps from you Woodlands texture pack?

Thanks Peter! Yeah - I created 2 tutorials that you can either find here in the Bryce forum OR by going to the tutorial link on my website. One was specifically about lattice trees and the other, about textures! I did email everybody at the time I think!? Hope they help!Adam Benton | www.kromekat.com

Peter - here is a basic one I did for someone quickly the other day - it's for the ivy layer in the new tree prop pack, but it applys equally to the standalone textures! I will expand on the whole tute when i have time - but this may help a little!?Adam Benton | www.kromekat.com
raven - cheers! :D yeah, it's quite amusing that such a high end orientated mag has a Poser/Bryce image on it's cover to represent an article about the 'future' of 3D! :) Ah well, as I have said many times; it 's not about software, it's just art!

"it 's not about software, it's just art! " Adam you're so right! I always say: "It's not how you do/achieve something. It's the result that counts." Btw. Your website is really cool. Like the design a lot. I don't have a website by now. Maybe it's because I work for the German webmarketing department of very big US IT company - noooo not M$!!! ;) Therefore I don't feel like building websites during my spare time. But someday I'll have to do it... Phil
Hey Phil! Thanks about the website - to be honest, I need to re design it a little now, and improve it's functionality. I started with a purely html portfolio site at the end of 99 - which was simple but did exactly as I needed, it was just a pain to keep editing with all the new work I was doing, so this (2002) asp one is a godsend! - I have a web based admin suite which allows me to upload, edit and modify on the fly! But I agree - it's not easy doing your OWN site!

Hi everybody! I have just recieved my box of Vue 4 goodies from the store, so i thought I'd drop in and say hello to all of you! :) I am sure as I try to understand why this new app doesn't work like my ole favorite Bryce, you'll see me in here scratching my head and looking for pity! ;) I am using this on OSX - anybody know of any potential problems or common bugs before I find out the hard way!? Cheers Adam aka kromekat
