Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2025 Jan 11 12:18 am)
can't say I saw that error either Howard, my only problem with it right now is it can't see all my folders under Poser5. But then I have done things like this "D:Curious LabsPoser 5RuntimelibrariescharacterDazDAZ People", it can see the Daz folder but doesn't go any further than that. This is the updated version you sent me the other week howard, I should have said something sooner but I've been a little preoccupied recently. I still say it's a fantastic & essential program for poser users.
Thanks, c1rcle... This error only occurs if you use a character other than "Full Stop" as the decimal seperator... (regional settings on your computer) and it is solved with either the "PBooost1.3InternationalUpdate" or the "PBooost1.3P5 updater". The PBooost 1.4 updater is nearly ready... I've been side-tracked by moving house! PBooost 1.4 allows you to browse your subfolders, too... ... so you'll be sorted! Just a couple of bits of tidying to do. Howard:)
I still have the problem with an error message that says something like can't write to file. It has been a while since I tried it that I can't quite remember. I know I talked with you Howard about this, but I never solved it. It works fine on my laptop, but not on my desktop. Both running Win XP Pro.
I am having a problem. I re-built my machine and re-installed PBooost. Poser and PBooost are on my removable hard drive (D:). Now... at home, on the machine that I didn't rebuild, pBooost works fine. At works, it locks up whenever I try to switch banks. I've tried the normal re-naming the directory trick, but it didn't work. At work, it says "default" for all libraries. I tried renaming the "characterDefault" to "character" and then switching but it didn't work. Any clues? Thanks!
Hiya... C1rcle... Yes, PBooost 1.4 is fully up with compressed files!!!!! You can open compressed files in the DFE and save files from it compressed or uncompressed. I also have a png thumbnail viewer panel, as you might have seen in previous posts. Dale B... Big comiserations on that one, I'm afraid... All I can suggest is that you convert the drive Poser is installed on to NTFS or buy a new drive for Poser and format it to NTFS... or you might find a use for PBooost "offline" when Poser is not running. It has many other features apart from bank-switching! Also, You do not HAVE to switch banks with PBooost under P5... all the PBooost banks are visible in the Poser Library Tab Drop-down List! (Thanks, Steve!) JCleaver... I'll look back through our communications and rewiew the problem... Sorry this hasn't been sorted out!! Oookami!! No!!! Ouch! You still having problem with your removeable-drive Poser installation!?!?! OK...You need the PBooost info stored in an ini file, not in the registry, so it follows you about. I'll see what I can do! I might have to e-mail you a "special version"!!LOL! A soon as I get this new version finished I'll sort you out. Howard:)
Ookami... Basically, when PBooost closes down, it stores the names of all the "selected" banks (one for each library) in the registry. You have to understand that whatever is the selected bank will represent a folder called "pose" or "character" etc. ie, the one which Poser looks into for its libraries, and it will be named without any other cvharacters in its name. The other "unselected" abnks will have folder names like "poseMike", characterVicky" etc. Let's say, for instance, that you switch banks (in your characters library) to "Mike". PBooost will rename the "character" folder to "characterDefault", then rename "characterMike" to "character". So Poser will now see the new "character" folder as it's characger library. All this is very simple for me to understand and very difficult for me to explain! LOL! You can see how, if you rip out the HD with Poser on it and put it in another machine WITH DIFFERENT PBOOOST DATA IN THE REGISTRY it gets very confused as to what is the default library(bank) and what is the currently selected one. The only way for you to get this to work on your twin machine setup is to ALWAYS set the banks to the same ones before you remove the HD and swap it over. It's easiest to set all the banks to "default" at this point, and that's what I recommended to you a while ago. So whatever machine you run PBooost on it's reading the same settings from the registry. But that could be an oversimplification. In practise, it's going to be virtually impossible for you to do this. You just have to forget once and you're in the shit. The solution is down to me, Ook! I need to make you a special version of PBooost which stores the settings not in the registry, but in an ini file which is on the removeable HD, with Poser. Then you can take the settings with your Poser from one machine to another. I am not happy with the security of this ini file based info system for mass distribution, but in your special case, I'll make it so. OK, Ook, do you use the import/export functions? If not, I can sort this out for you now. (That is all I have to finalise on PBooost 1.4) so you'll have an all-singing-all-dancing early 1.4 release specially tailored for you (but without import/export for now?) Let me know. H:)

Hiya... I have had a complaint from an international user of PBooost which has resulted in their payment being refunded! Ouch! The error is "0.6 is not a valid floating point integer" when selecting a material in the DFE. The problem would have affected only some international users who purchased PBooost 1.3. I created a fix file which I sent out to all who had purchased this version. Anyone who is having problems, please speak out! IM me with your e-mail address and I will send out the updater if you do not have it, and anyone who is having problems with the updater, please let me know! I'd hate to think that anyone would have a problem and not let me know... I want PBooost to work for everyone and can't do much if I don't know about the problem!! H:)))
