After making the Hidden Bamboo Katana I was looking for other Martial arts weapons on the net...came across a few I am going to make this is the 1st.

Anyone interested...should I post them as I make them or all in one pack...or both?
Thsi is rendered in poser, btu I am having a problem with the clip, I change the rotation to the proper place, btu after I open the handle the clips rotation point moves off away from the proper point....I tried also to make it a new figure through the hierchy ed. but it distorts dramatically when I pose it. Right now it is a prop...I would like to make it a figure for poses but hey...if anyone has an answer to any of the above questions do not hesitate.

Maybe you need to turn off bending for all the parts and make sure the joint centers are right. If that is a butterfly knife, you might consider making it double-edged.

odeathoflife ( ) posted Thu, 07 November 2002 at 8:24 PM

Thanks for the tip I will try that...as far as the double sided goes the ones I saw on the net were all one sided...I never saw any that were 2 sided.

That worked...what a silly thing to over look :) The joints points are all werong after the make figure so will have to redo those but the turn off bending worked.

I'd think if it were double sided... you might cut yourself with it while trying to look kewl to your other juvenile delinquent friends by flipping it around all over the place. :) watata waata waaata ouch!

Yes, I used to have one and it was single sided...prob for that very reason...now switch blades, are two sided :)

Update on weapons pack.

So far we got a Katana, Wakizashi, Sai, Butterfly Knife, 3 stars...what else does it need???

Many times, the Katana and Wakizashi are accompanied by a shorter "Tanto", making a 3 bladed set. As to how they are worn, 'ell if I know! Sincerely, Bill

Tempt the Hand of Fate and it'll give you the "finger"!

robt ( ) posted Fri, 08 November 2002 at 6:34 AM

katana and wakizashi are worn on the left side through the belt, blade up, and were the 'common ' weapons worn. the tanto was usually partnered with the tachi, which were 'dress' weapons and were worn blade down.

Yes I was going to forgo the Tanto, I figured, 2 would be enough...

why stop at 2.... a tanto and tachi set would do quite well as part of a 'formal wear' set with elaborate kimono and hair prop (just an idea)!!

I think you did a good job on this knife and the other blades. I just checked and they aren't double-edged. I was mixing that up with another California law - butterfly knives are illegal and double-edged knives are also illegal. It dates back from the days when the cholos and other gangsters were still using knives (instead of Glocks or Uzis).

klutzo ( ) posted Fri, 08 November 2002 at 5:27 PM

Well I used to have one (Before an over protective parent chucked it in the garbage) it was definitely 1 sided. When you flip the sucker around, the BACK of the blade comes in contact with the BACK of the wrist.. so it would be VERY bad if t was 2 sided! Some do look 2 sided, but only near the front of the blade is 2 sided. I woudl say on a 4 " blade, maybe only 1 " of it is 2 sided. And it looks like a dagger style from what I remember.

So far we got a Katana, Wakizashi, Sai, Butterfly Knife, 3 stars...what else does it need???

Tetsu-bishi (caltrops)
Bokken (wooden practice sword)
Jitte (sai with only one tine)
Kama (short-handled sickle)
Kusari-gama (kama with a length of weighted chain)
Ninja-to (ninja sword, similar to katana, straight blade)
Tonfa (side-handle baton)

odeathoflife ( ) posted Fri, 08 November 2002 at 8:14 PM

Yes Good List, I tried to do Caltrops but the result was not pleasing, My brother has a Bokken (I thought it was called a dokken though buyt you are prob right) Kama'a are on the list, I remember those from halloween's gone by, I am not going to be making anymore blades though, sorry. The sai I made could be conformed into a Jitte so will do that as well.

Hey, kool to see this. I've just completed a Ninja-to and saya for fit to the Ninja Suit from Daz, since I don't find one in the traditional shinobi style with the accompanying props that I'd like. The saya and ninja to are smart props, with morphs for the sageo(cord). http://www.semplanet.com/ninjapak.htm I'm planning to make some other props for a more well-rounded set, but things I have made don't sell, people download the piss out of them for free tho;0] Maybe we can do a little trading or something? I wish someone could make an actual gi like this, with the boots having actual soles on them. As it is, I'll probably make sole props for the existing Mike2 suit, and use the friggin karate suit over the top, so I can have my authenticity urge fulfilled..... http://www.awma.com/index.cfm/action/productdetail/product_id/6768.htm Oh well, maybe it will develop, only been looking for 4 years, and I don't make very good clothing, just props and accessories so far, as time permits.....
