so this baby now has texture... so all that's left is to make it posable. I think I'll break it up into various parts so that the person using it doesnt have to load unnecessary polys if they dont need them. No need to have the 30000 polys for the inside and the 30000 for the landing gear if you're just gonna be seeing the outside while it's in flight. So maybe the fuselage, the landing gear, the tanks, the interior and the deco trim as different poser parts. The total file (interior and exterior) weighs in at around 80000 polys..the total number of textures for the model weighs in at 7 textures and 6 bump maps (yeah..thats 13 images at 1024 x 1024 each!) The interior is highly detailed with dials and such.. see the amapi forum for the wip thread to see this model come to life over the last couple weeks and to see the detail of the interior. so whaddaya think? I know its probably more than most will want to use..but I was pushing the program to see what I could make it do. Never seen a poser file with 13 textures to make it work..lol BT

My dad used to fly those. I think its a great model, especially if the camera can be placed in the cockpit. Ok. Great work, thanks for letting us have a peak.

Excellent work. This will really strain the lower end systems. :)

Nice one. One of the most beautful planes in the history of flight. I rate it only behind in the spitefire for looks.

modeling looks great! i may be wrong but i think the grey area on these planes were polished aluminum.almost a chrome look, like what you have on the lip of the rear intake scoop.

Jim Burton ( ) posted Sat, 09 November 2002 at 12:46 PM

Hi BT!- Looks great! A couple of minor points: Assuming it is the ever-popular D model, it is missing the extension in front of the fin that most had. The wheels look a tad small. The MG detailing in the wings looks too big. The canopy framing is wrong, the front section should be 3 panel, not 4. The rear bubble framing should extend up higher, too. I'd tone the rivet detailing down, Mustangs were flush-riveted (unlike most WW II planes), they hardly show in pics. The O.D anti-glare painting would normally extend to the spinner. I'm being super picky here, but everything else just looks so good!

While we're picking nits ;-) The call letters on the side seem a bit large the W and Z look bigger than the I which seems big by itself), and seem to angle where the body of the plane gets larger.
