Subject: Can I upgrade to Poser 5?

I have Poser 3 which was given free on PC Format in England in May. Can I use this for the upgrade to Poser 5? Does the upgrade differ from the full version (ie does the upgrade sit on top of the old version or does it just use the Serial number of the old one in installation). Any help you can offer would be fantastic. Elgyfu

Elgyfu I upgraded to Poser 4 from the free version of Poser 3 when it was given away a few years ago by 3D World in the UK, it was actually a special upgrade offer in the magazine at the time and have recently upgraded from Poser4/Pro Pack to Poser 5. When you install the upgrade version of Poser 5 it is a completely separate installation and you have to enter 2 serial no's, the Poser 5 serial no and the serial no of the version of Poser you are upgrading from. So I think there is a good chance that you could get Poser 5 as an upgrade from the version you have, but as Jaqui says the final decision will be made by Curious Labs so why not give them a call, and look forward to a huge change from your Poser 3. I tried the same thing to Poser 4 quite recently. The offer to upgrade expires after a month and is not valid. Mike

Thank you guys, I have asked Curious Labs. They said the same thing as you, Mike. The sad thing is that I did order a Poser 4 upgrade from Amazon but waited 6 weeks, it did not arrive so I cancelled coz I had heard Poser 5 was imminent. Now I will have to buy Poser 4 at the full price and upgrade to Poser 5 next year - I can not really justify paying 300 for a program that I just use for fun. Still, that's lfe I guess. Thanks again. Curious was selling P4 and ProPack at a much reduced price...is that still available???? You might want to check an online auction as well...
